I bought this disc primarily to hear Peter Zinovieff's setting of the Agnus Dei. This track did not disappoint - it is a classically brutal piece of musique concrète, yet it has some affinity with Jonathan Harvey's much later 'Mortuos plango', the use of a boy treble being a particularly evocative shared feature. As such, I don't believe this to be the entire track - an annoyance from a collector's perspective, given the importance of Zinovieff, EMS and BBC Radiophonics to our cultural heritage, but understandable in light of the tight editorial vision for the disc as a whole.
Everything on the CD is of interest, and it is sequenced well such that it is quite listenable from start to finish. Aside from the Zinovieff piece, the tracks by Spectrum and Octal stand out; others I am now glad to have heard, since I wouldn't normarily buy compilations with these sorts of artists.
