Product Description

Review

"This is a remarkable book...The is a book to be read for both information and inspiration."
--The Gospel Magazine, March, 1984 --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

Doris Ruscoe came to the Bible College of Wales in 1932. 'I was earnestly seeking to meet God in a new way', she wrote. 'The answer came to me through Rees Howells'. This is a summary of the teachings and writings of the great Welsh preacher and missionary Rees Howells on the subject of intercession. In the first two chapters the author, one of his colleagues, explains how she met Rees Howells, the effect he had on her spiritual guidance and how he himself met with God and came to understand the need for intercession. In the remaining chapters the author introduces detailed notes that were taken at the time of Rees Howells' Bible readings and his commentary on them. These passages, often quoting Howells verbatim, illuminate his ideas, and bring his teaching to life. Because of this, the book is one of the most important documents about Rees Howells, including as it does a valuable collection of original material, and will appeal to a wide range of evangelicals. The book contains a foreword by Norman Grubb, author of "Rees Howells, Intercessor" also published by The Lutterworth Press, and a preface by Rees Howells' son, Samuel Rees Howells, Director of the Bible College of Wales. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Interesting book 1 Jan 2009
By Prolific Reader TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
The author, Ruscoe knew Rees Howells and was part of the Bible College of Wales for many decades beginning in the late 30s and so wrote from what she saw.

There are some facts in here which are not found in Norman Grubbs book which is the classic on Rees Howells, but this book by Ruscoe falls short on Grubbs book.

Whilst the section on intercession was good i felt that there was to few Bible examples which weakened the book, but this may have been space limitations. ReesHowells dot com talks more about the man and his ministry with some rare photos.

In many ways this book is very similar to Grubbs book (quotes from him as well and why not), though not as good, but nonetheless still worth reading.

Surprising 8 Feb 2000
By William Meitzen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I read _Rees Howells, Intercessor_ several years before. I was expecting this book to be written in a similar style, with great power. But I was surprised instead by it's quietness and peace. A lot of it is Howells' choice of a verse or two, and a short message on that verse. I highly recommend reading it.

THE Book on Intercession 2 Nov 2006
By D. Abt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
If you are in the midst of intercession, this is THE book. It helped me to understand what I was going through and why.

This book is a guidebook for intercession; and yet, never puts God into a box.
