To get an idea if this is going to save you any money first take a reading from your electric meter. I did this and found that overnight it costs me 5 units which equates to £139 a year in electricity used by standby!!!!!!

The night I plugged this gadget in my usage dropped to 2 units over the same time scale thus saving me £83!!.

Now all that is on over night is the large freezer and Fridge freezer and two digital alarm clocks and SKY+ instead of the above and these:

PC, Scanner, Printer, Wireless mouse and keyboard, PC Surround system, LCD Monitor, 2 TV's, Hifi, DVD, Scart Router, Modulator, TV sender, PS2

So YES get one or two.

There is however one problem if your appliance has a large transformer it will take up two slots on the unit. I got by this by using a small extension with two extrasockets on it and it works fine now.

This is a wonderful piece of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin. I replaced my old power strip with the IntelliPanel, plugged the PC base unit into the master socket, and my monitors, printer, speakers, etc, into the remaining peripheral sockets. Now when I switch on the PC, 5 seconds later all the peripherals switch on, too; then when I shutdown the PC, 5 seconds after shutdown all the peripherals switch off. No more Standby Mode drain! Note that if you have equipment such as external drives that must be switched on first and switched off last, you may want to consider providing it/them with a separate power source. In addition, it doesn't have to be used for computers - you can use it for your home entertainment system, or anything else that has one piece of equipment that always has to be switched on when in use.

Excellent product, simple to use and does what it says. Only one criticism - the sockets are too close together. This makes the unit smaller. But some plugs (esp those with adapters of any kind) overlap adjacent sockets, making them unusable. In my case I was only able to use 6 out of the 8. You can get around this easily by using an extension bar plugged into one of the sockets - but this defeats the point of making the unit more compact. Other than that - a really good product, saving time and energy.

All seems to work ok. However if you have transformer plugs that are big and bulky, they cover the row above so you loose a socket. It either needs to be slightly wider or a single strip. Otherwise a good well built idea.

This is such a time (and energy) saver. Shut down your PC and a few seconds later everything is off as well. Brilliant. Plenty of sockets so it should be fine for most people (I have managed to fill the sockets though!).

My one grumble about this is that the plugs point inwards (if you know what I mean). If you don't know what I mean, wait until you have to attach oversized plugs (ie plug adapters) in to it. It can render the other plug on the other side unusable. I would have thought that pointing one side "outwards" would be sufficient. It would also mean all cables would be pointing in the same direction.

Haven't tried any of the network, phone cable etc connections. I'm sure they're up to the challenge having spoken to my in-laws who live in a "power spikey" area and have had their kit saved by such connections.

All-in-all, this is worth the purchase. Maybe they'll read this and create a version 2 that sorts the plug directions out... Maybe...

It worked perfectly on my old PC, but I've just changed to a newer pc, which uses less power and it keeps turning the peripherals on and off, even though the PC is turned on. Shame as it worked so well with the old PC.

This product does not work properly with a Mac Mini. You have to shut down the whole computer to make the peripherals turn off. If the computer simply goes into sleep mode, the intellipanel keeps waking the computer up again.

A shame, because this is a great idea, but I'm going to give mine away to someone who owns something other than a Mini. Amazon should make it clear that this "Desktop" product is not compatible with the Mini, as most people would class the mini as a desktop.

This product worked great for 2 months then after that kept turning my PC off randomly then followed by turning all other devices off. Sometimes it just wouldn't turn on. Quality is very questionable. Great shame on otherwise a great idea.
