Product Description

Product Description

Intel's 4th gen processor codename: Haswell offers superior performance over the previous generation Ivybridge by up to 10% clock for clock. This astounding performance boost results in performance improvements in multi-tasking, encoding, gaming and multithreaded applications. Intel's 4th generation processor has improved PCI-Lane 3.0 bandwidth which helps further boost performance of latest generation 3 graphics cards for the ultimate gaming experience.

For overclocking enthusiasts, Intel's 4th gen CPU has improved memory overclocking support, with up to and beyond 3000MHz possible with the very best memory kits. Memory bandwidth is critically important to Haswell compared to previous generations. High frequency memory performance significantly improves encoding, gaming and benchmarking tasks.

The biggest leap in Intel's Haswell processor is the onboard graphics which is now up to 2.6x faster than previous HD4600 found in the Ivybridge CPU. What this means is these latest processors can actually play the latest games in HD with low/medium settings applied. Of course if you want to experience True HD gaming at maximum details then a dedicated graphics card is still a must.

There are two words in your vocabulary that should never meet-Game and Over. You love playing, and you love winning, so you demand unmatched performance, the ability to customize your rig, and features that put you in control of the action. With Intel technology, you step into a heart-pounding experience. Pick up your weapon, challenge your friends, and experience gaming at its best-because the only thing more amazing than Intel technology is what you'll do with it.

As a creative force and a professional, you must continually balance your vision with the deadlines of the real world. Intel technology helps you keep up with your creativity with unmatched and customizable performance, and features that give you full control to optimize your workflow and maximize your productivity. So keep imagining, keep creating, and take your inspiration to the limit-because the only thing more amazing than Intel technology is what you'll do with it.

My first computer was ZX Spectrum 56k. My second, a Commodore 64. Third, Amiga 300. 4th, Amiga 500, 5th, Quad speed Win95, 6th, Win98 P4 1.7Ghz. 7th, AMD Phenom ll Q4 955 3.2Ghz. <= (excluding my laptops)

What can I say. Other than on paper, I now realise I have had more computers than I have relationships ! :$
Which may not say a lot for my chatup lines, but hopefully it will my coding ones!

Moore's law is still upheld, in principle. And, as long as we [mankind] don't annihilate each other, the future can only be bright. This is a great processor, capable of computations I only dreamed about as a boy. (I'm 35)

I am from the home PC generation. I used to study my 'BASIC' coding book for my spectrum on Saturday afternoons when I was 7. I now develop software for various companies as well as motion graphics.

I'm not keen on the K versions. I don't OC. It worked straight out of the box with a new Gigabyte Z97-UD5H-BK. I swapped the stock cooler for a BeQuiet Dark Rock 3, and runs cool and extremely quiet.

100% recommended for staggering stability and performance for professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Excellent performance and very cool running even when all 8 cores are max'd out. A great buy for anyone needing high-end processing.

Great product, could only be improved if it was available without the heat sink since many users have custom heat sinks.

Be very, very careful about your choice of Mother board. This is a Haswell-Refurbished model and not quite 4thGen. More like 4.25..!

I can confirm that it works fine in a Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 with Bois F7, but NOT with an Asus P87-Plus, even with the 2003 or 2004 Bios that Asus recommend.

This chip replaced an i7-4770 that I was already very happy with in a VM-Ware server - the two extra GHz speed *are* noticeable and well appreciated.

Check my Asus Z87 Review for more info about what went wrong with the "i7-4790 and a Z87-Plus" and how I came to a compromise.
