Have a MythTV setup with a server streaming my TV contents and videos to my PCs/frontends. I recently bought a 1080p LCD TV for my living room and a Blueray internal writer for my living room HTPC. Unfortunately when running HD content it was clear that the CPU I had even though dual core was not powerful enough. So instead I bought this CPU. Now I can watch HD content without any problems and I even tried a few more power hungry games and combined with my graphics card it has no problems to deal with these either. So a good buy.
Of course make sure you check that your motherboard has the right frequency so it can power this CPU - check motherboard manual/homepage. I fell into this basic trap and had to buy a new motherboard as well (and I thought I knew something about computers;-)).

It's a processor that was built to perform that's for sure. Gets a great speed and heat on a gaming PC built to run Crysis at a stretch. I would advise any and all first time PC builders to get this processor as it balances reasonable price with reasonable performance. Just make sure that the motherboard you buy fits with this, and you're all set.
A fantastic CPU to overclock. Got my running at 3.6 GHz, but my brother in law has had his CPU running at more than 4.0 GHz!! If you are overclocking though, you'll need to buy a separate fan to keep it cool.

overclockers dream
A great chip, and easily overclocked to 4.3Ghz (needs an Akasa AK965 fan though - the supplied fan is inadequate)- so I am told!
