I got mine for £30 elsewhere, but felt compelled to write something.

This CPU is the best bargain released by any company in years. It's every bit as fast as the old Core 2 Duo E8400 yet cooler.

I paired mine with a £39 motherboard and built a media PC. With 4gb Corsair Vengeance blue (1600mhz, decided to spend £3 extra for the speed boost) it eats through media.

There are so many uses for this little powerhouse it's unreal. Not only is it great for building a low power HTPC but I would stick my neck on the line and say it could probably take care of some gaming too providing you add a GPU.

Great CPU from Intel and comes with all of the pleasures of socket 1155 (the lovely GUI bios for example)

Really leaves the single cored Semprons for dead and puts AMD in a lot of trouble at the bargain bin end of the spectrum IMO.

Overclocking is obviously out of the question but it doesn't matter. Good thing about that is you don't even need to invest in a high end cooler because the stock one easily takes care of the heat output.

Brilliant product so long as you can live with the fact that it's called a Celeron.

I picked one of these up whilst waiting for the new Ivy Bridge chips to come out, just as a stop gap. I was amazed to find that this chip is a very capable little number.

Performance for general day-to-day tasks is excellent, though this isn't that surprising given that word processing isn't particularly CPU intensive! What was more surprising was the performance for gaming and other more demanding tasks. Even without a discrete graphics card, the integrated graphics were able to run most recent games, albeit with settings from low to medium. Games like Starcraft II worked a charm.

Adding in a cheap graphics card (I went for an ATI 6670 for ~£55) was enough for me to play all the latest titles at medium-high settings - Mass effect 3, Civ 5, Diablo 3 etc all looked beautiful. The rest of my system is quite high spec (lots of RAM, a SSD etc), but even still, it's eye opening to see how powerful cheaper tech has become. I've since spent hundreds of pounds on a GTX 670 and a 3570k, but there'll always be a soft spot in my heart for this fantastic piece of kit.

As the title states, it's a great CPU for the price,
I purchased the item from another shop for £30 as a temporary replacement for my old i5 760.
it runs a lot cooler than the i5, currently running a few programs and the cpu is at about 20% usage, temperature in the room is 24C, cpu temperature of 38C with core temperatures of 28C.
the only complaint I have is that even with my GTS450 games seem to lag a lot more but then again I wouldn't expect miracles from a £30 processor!
This will soon be upgraded to an i5-3450s but in the meanwhile, it's a very good entry level cpu, beats my 2year old laptop any day!

A CPU for £30 is not build for the gaming but for day to day use which is fantastic at this price!!

I ran out of money building my SOHO PC and bought this as a stop-gap until I could afford something meatier. Almost two years later, I'm still using it!

I'm not a gamer, so I can't comment on its performance there, but for everything else; 1080p video playing, video encoding, 2D and 3D design, DTP, Audio processing, Music Multi-tracking, etc., etc., it rocks! And that's using the built-in graphics (with two monitors).

Even with the stock cooler, I can't get this thing hotter than mid 40s. And contrary to the documentation, it happily runs my RAM at "Extreme" settings (1600Mhz). I'm in no hurry to upgrade.

I got this processor 3 months ago along with £50 graphics card and it not only does what i need but far exceeds my expectations.I wanted it to surf the net, send emails and watch movies online but found myself playing skyrim, crysis2, amnesia tdd and team fortress2. It can handle them but not in ultra settings, I think thats good for £35.
