There's not a lot I can say about this processor as I bought it at the same time as a lod of other hardware so I can't tell which components have made the biggest difference to the speed. The processor was simple to install and came with thermal sticker and cooling fan which seem to be fine for my uses.

I use the PC mainly for photo 'processing' in Lightroom and the performance of this set up is perfectly adequate for me. I'm using an Asus P5QPL-AM Motherboard and 4Gb of RAM, plus three large HDD's and an external drive. There are occasional short pauses when performing intensive tasks but for the money the performance is excellent. I compared the speed ratings of similarly priced AMD set ups but the Intel solution seems far quicker.

Overall very pleased with my purchase and budget PC.

UPDATE: I've upgraded this to a Core 2 quad core (2.66) processor and it hasn't changed the performance of my PC noticeably.

For me upgrading my processor was a must; before I only had a 2.4 Ghz celeron single core, dreadfully slow when multitasking and gaming obviously was terrible. Item was as described by seller, installed perfectly without problem and now there is a very noticeable improvement! For those not as familiar with chips - you need to find out what type yours is as this one is specifically a 775 not the newer type manufacturers are using. All in all very happy and the price was great (£100).

I upgraded my 3.0 GHz Pentium D with this 2.93GHz processor. What a difference - perfomance test showed 4.1 up to a now respectable 5.9 with the processor shown at 6.4.
