I got this for a custom build solely for data transfer. I must say, this thing blew my mind. I combined this with the lowest end i7 you can get for socket 2011 (i7-3820) and when the whole thing was set up (SSD on SATA 3, 16 GB DDR3-1333) I tested it with a 4 gb transfer, which it completed in seconds. The pipeline this board allows it way beyond anything I've worked on before. Not to mention all the cool features this brings to the table, or the goodies you get in the box with the board.
Anyways, it shipped, I got it, hooked it up, and fired it up. I don't know about anyone else's experience, but I haven't flashed the bios to get this thing to work. I do know that every batch has a few bad apples, and I guess I didn't get one.
As for the brand, let's see if I ever go cheapy off-name brands again. Intel has impressed me well beyond expectations.
