This is a comprehensive book on teaching Hatha yoga. The book is brilliantly laid out. It has everything you need-anatomy, anatomical terms, instructions, illustrations and benefits, modifications and cautions for each pose, answers to issues we face as teachers that would only be learnt through experience. Its is clear and concise. It does not illustrate all postures but most that are regularly used. The anatomy is detailed at the exact right level. It also tells you the muscles working in each pose which is extremely useful. There is alot of information hidden on important aspects of yoga. It also gives sanskrit and english translation for poses. If you are teaching Hatha yoga or learning you really must buy this book, if its not a huge learning tool, it will be a very useful reference!

I am really pleased I spent that extra bit of money on this comprehensive book! I did hesitate due to the price but when the book came through I knew I had made the right decision. It is filled with yoga poses, ideas for adjustments, modifications, variations and lists the muscles involved. it also comes with a DVD. It's really helpful for yoga teachers. The book does show some adjustments made by the yoga teacher using a strap. I, personally, wouldn't do this as I think yoga students need to use their own body strength - noy be pulled by a strap. This is just my personal opinion and there are lots of other adjustments.

It has already helped me with my lesson planning and I have recently adapted one of the relaxations for my students. The relaxations probably need adapting as they seem quite 'brief' but I have found this to be no problem as I am able to make them more personal.

The only thing I would like to see is an index of poses at the back of the book. The poses are indexed at the front, alphabetically and with photos. Whilst this is OK, I do keep going to the back habitually to search for the index!

That is the only small thing I can say about this fabulous book! I certainly am very glad I made the purchase and I can see myself going back to this again and again.

This book was excaltly what was required, specifying correct posture, as well as modifications but all in a simple and easily digestable manner.

The sections about the muscles affected is extremely useful for posture profiling if you are undertaking a yoga training course.
