I first heard "I`m in love with Margaret Thatcher" when I was about 15 years old. I wasn`t really sure why everyone disliked her, but because the single featured a picture of her giving us the two fingers and that she was Prime minister, it surely followed the punk ethos of classy comical genius. This really is a grand collection of songs, its all here. With basic sounds and an acute view of life as a punk, the Notsensibles manage to create some musical delights that DEVO and the CARDIACS would be proud of. I wish I was sixteen again, so I could get a girlfriend with scruffy hair and spend all day on the sofa, we could sing along to "little boxes" and bring death to disco. If I was in a band I would want it to be like the Notsensibles, very clever at not being clever. 26 tracks of enlightened observations of a mixed up world where normality is disco and coronation street, we are sick of it. Blackpool Rock is a great track, its really out of place. It sounds like an Ivor Cutler song without Ivor singing, remarkably romantic. An excellent value for money album in the true punk/oi vein. If it wasn`t for bands like the Notsensibles the eary eighties would have been devoid of good music, before the likes of the B52`s, Butthole Surfers, and other humourous bands could take the helm of a sinking punk era. Marvelous. I am the bishop.
