4.0 out of 5 stars Good Little Guide 5 Jun. 2013
I recently did a weekend with some mates in Budapest. This book was great and quickly accessible on my kindle when walking around and thinking about what to do.
Such a fantastic city, this guide and a map-app was all I needed. It covers all the major sites and gives good tips to a few more obscure things also. I picked it as it was published very recently, so I knew it would be up to date - unlike many of the paper guides out there.
A great weekend, for anyone visiting the Turkish Baths at night are must! I also highly suggest walking to the other side of the river to look at the Houses of Parliament. It's all in this guide. Happy travels.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just like a postcard from aunty 19 May 2014

honestly, this is so brief, it reminds me of my aunt's postcards, crammed with chatter, been there done that, and I fancied those shoes in the window! I would not call it a guide book, but an opinion, indeed a postcard from Budapest. Perhaps the author who drops into town every year could try and write a new chapter with each visit. In between her pre-dinner spa...perhaps.

Anne Morgellyn could be Caroline Preston with another name. Not enough information about the City but lots about her!
I would not recommend this guide to anyone.

Worth it's low price - small easy read to prepare you for a larger, more detailed book in the future. A quick read the covers most of the bases.
3.0 out of 5 stars money for value - worth it 29 Sept. 2013
By Ruth Taylor-kiakidis - Published on Amazon.com
The book is much less expensive than the more traditional known guides but it provides the necessary info on how to get around and the major sites to see - obviously it's not comprehensive on historical background - but it does have some great tips (including barging into the hilton to see some ancient walls in its foyer) tips you surely wouldn't get in the 'name - branded' guides. As well as funny stories. Worth its price and a good 'first starter'
