My first point then, is that you won't lose your awareness or feel hypnotised at any point when using the cd (or book).
My main problem was social phobia - in classes at university I would go bright red, and was even beginning to stutter, when asking questions or giving corrections, especially in lectures. Having put up with shyness for 22 years, and with my fourth year presentations looming, I decided I didn't have anything to lose and picked up the book.
One of the first things that you're told is that you don't have to believe a single thing that it says - just do what you're told and see how you get on. None of the exercises are scary - rather than the "go out and talk to a stranger" that I was execting, it's more a case of recalling times of happiness and success. I would especially recommend the exercises at the end of each chapter if you feel your lack of confidence is stopping you from pursuing studies or your career.
I still haven't finished the book itself - I found the exercises quite difficult at first because they had a lot to do with life goals and motivation, which, as a drifter, I didn't really feel the need for.
The cd is brilliant, and I listen to it on the bus about every day or two. I find that it works just as well when I'm sitting down with my eyes open, rather that lying down as it recommends. I also don't notice any negative effects if I go without for a while.
After listening to the CD most days for about 2 weeks and reading most of the book, I've noticed a massive difference.Read more ›
I have used this every day for a month and every day I am making progress towards big goals. By using the book as a daily reference, and the CD to reinforce the content, I am more confident around people, where before I would be something of a wallflower - often afraid to engage with people. Now I look forward to social occasions and really enjoy myself. I really feel each day I am becoming more comfortable in my own skin.
And that's what's great about this book. It is not about 'faking it', or behaving like a cocky idiot. It's about getting to know yourself and being comfortable with that. As you achieve this, you can then move onto achieving those goals you always wanted to, but lack of self-esteem and confidence held you back.
I wish good luck to anyone who buys this book. If it helps you achieve only half the success it's helped me achieve then you'll still have made amazing changes to your life. If it cost £1000 this book would be worth every penny.
The book made quite light reading, it's not at all heavy and the chapters are short and to the point. There are some visualisation excercises to do - which I didn't do very well as I found it really hard to visualise pictures and scenarios in full vivid colour but it didn't seem to matter and I did give them a go.
I played the dvd at least once at day and sometimes at night I put it on 'repeat' while I dozed off. (I'd wake up 2 or 3 hours later and turn it off before going staight back to sleep). It's very relaxing.
I had an interview a week after I started using this dvd and I know I came across a lot more confident than on previous interviews. I was called back for a second interview to give a Presentation and again, where previously nerves may have got the better of me, this time I came across confident once more.
Well I got the job (needless to say I'm really thrilled)and as far as I'm concerned, it's all thanks to this book and dvd so I'd highly recommend it to anyone in need of a confidence boost. It's a good price on here and well worth the money.
Before reading the book I was someone who pushed themselves to achieve their best. Despite doing well at school, university, and at work, I was an anxious worrier and not confident in myself. I think I pushed myself hard to achieve things to make up for my feelings of insecurity and worry. I even slipped into depression at one point.
Prior to this book, I had read MANY other books on improving my confidence and self-esteem. In a nutshell, they did not bring about a permanent change in me over the long term. And so I was definitely sceptical that this book by Paul Mckenna was going to be any different to the others.
But this book did work for me, and it has brought about a lasting positive change in my life. I am happy with who I am, and I am excited about the future.
The book is very clear and concise on what to do. Everything is presented in a straight forward way and in plain English. This makes it very easy to dip into the book if you ever need to come back to recap a particular topic again. The CD is excellent, very relaxing, and covers all the ideas from the book.
Once I started reading the book and listening to the CD, I started feeling comfortable and happy in myself after a few days. This is what the first half of the book is about; feeling great as quickly as possible.Read more ›
