In Detail

Content and data searching is a very important part of the modern user experience, and before something can be searched, it has to be indexed. From speed, to faceting, to multilingual support, everything depends on correct indexing.

Instant Apache Solr for Indexing Data How-to is an example-driven guide that will take you on a journey from the basic collection of data to a multi-lingual, multi-field, multi-type schema. By the end of the book, you will know how to get your data ready for searches and how to tune the process to achieve the required search use-cases.

Instant Apache Solr for Indexing Data How-to is a friendly, practical guide that will show you how to index your data with Solr. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great reference to get your hands wet. 24 Dec 2013
By Al Krinker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I think first two reviewers missed the point of this book. They complained that it is too basic and most of the information can be found online. True. This book wont give you deep understanding of the SOLR or any advanced techniques, but it will do what it says it would do in the title, it is fast way to get your hands wet on SOLR Indexing. So if you never touched SOLR before this book is great, it will go into details on how to set up your local solr intance, and how to populate it with some data and would give you different ways to do it (URL, DIH, etc), etc. Not bad for only 90 pages of material

1.0 out of 5 stars Weak content for beginners 19 Dec 2013
By Alexandre Rademaker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The content is weak and superficial. O didn't find any information that I couldn't have found easily on the web!

1.0 out of 5 stars Self-complaisant reminiscences of a SOLR newbie 25 Jan 2014
By eReader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Apart from few answers to perhaps tricky but absolutely pointless questions, this book is nothing different from the "Getting Started" articles (enveloped with some personal stories) already available from the Internet.
