This is a wonderful album of classic songs, plus a couple of new ones written by Jane that will surely become standards. Jane's voice wraps around you like honey, so full and so sweet it makes you melt. Her haunting treatment of Amazing Grace and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face had me unashamedly wiping away tears - and I'm a man!
Old songs like Teacher's Pet are given a fresh, very 'now' slant, I loved the upbeat, lighthearted feel and change in mood of this more pop material - though I have to say that I think Jane's voice and emotional power when she is singing big ballads far surpasses the more light-weight songs.
Overall, Jane's ability to move people emotionally is very special. The arrangements are technically brilliant as well - there is so much packed into this CD. I hope it sells like hot cakes, as her first CD did. This one deserves to because even though the first was very good, this follow up is better and far more inspiring because there seems to be more of herself in it. You feel that Jane is growing and maturing as an artist. I look forward to the next album and the next and the next... because this girl is here to stay.
