Book Description

1 Jan 2009 1590305981 978-1590305980
Acclaimed yoga and meditation teacher Sarah Powers is known and loved for her unique approach—Insight Yoga—which combines traditional yoga with the meridians of Chinese medicine, as well as Buddhist meditation. Using Yin (passive) and Yang (dynamic) poses, she demonstrates a series of different yoga sequences that bring benefit to organs, muscles, joints, and tendons—as well as the mind. She also provides a foundational explanation of traditional Chinese medicine theory and mindfulness meditation instruction. Sarah Powers brings us on an inspiring journey inward, and shows the path for cultivating a lasting relationship with yoga that cultivates and strengthens our physical well-being and our mental and emotional clarity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary! 5 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
Sarah Powers takes to a new level the experience of yoga. Yin poses, which are long-held and use gravity rather than muscular strength, combined with Buddhist mindfulness, create a wonderfully relaxing and rejuvinating practice. She explains in detail the theory behind the asana choices (Chinese meridians), and writes in a very attractive style which glows with her personal integrity. Physically I have achieved freedom from lower backpain that years of traditional 'yang' yoga did not quite ease, and I have a new flexibility in my hips. Above all the calm and peace that this practice generates lasts long after rolling up my mat, and I cannot recommend this enough! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful addition to the yoga bookshelf 30 Jan 2010
Format:Paperback
Sarah Powers has amazing presence, but even in the written word she manages to convey a deep sense of serenity and calm in which to approach your yoga practice.
It is well-worth reading the book prior to practice, as there are so many facets to the Yin/Yang approach in yoga that the reader will find very informative.
A must-have for all yoga teachers too!
