Book Description

Two souls made of one, divided by time, and reunited within their dreams. Worlds stand between them now, but fate is their guiding light, one glance bound them, one touch empowered them. Now, they have no choice but to finish the war they started lifetimes before...or they will lose it all.
*****
Willow Haywood has always been trapped between the worlds of the Light and the Dark. Her waking hours are plagued by her ability to feel the emotions of those around her. No matter how inward she draws, she cannot shut out the feelings of others. Sometimes she will see images - echoes of other people and places - that she can enter to influence the emotions of people she has never met.
By night, Willow experiences her only escape from this terrible insight - entering into the world of dreams. Most of these dreams are shared in blissful silence with a stunning blue-eyed boy. But every new moon she lives through something much darker: a horrific nightmare shared by another mysterious boy who is always shrouded by shadows.
One night, this shadowy figure invades her dreams outside of his appointed time. In this new nightmare, Willow is marked; a mark which follows her into the waking world and sets her on a momentous path through light and darkness, through fragmented myth and half-truths, through past lives and disturbing family secrets, all in the face of the ever-dominant Zodiac. What she finds will endanger the lives of those closest to her and will force her to make a decision that will change her world forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insight is Amazing 24 Sept. 2010
    Format:Paperback
Insight is a unique fantasy tale about danger, adventure, mystery, family and of course the power of love. Willow is quite easy to connect with and its very clear from the start of novel that she really cares for her family and friends especially her little sister Libby, who is my favourite character in the novel. When Willow meets Landen the story really gets going and I was hooked. I really enjoyed reading about the idea of fate and how everything happens for a reason because I personally believe in that as well.

Insight is Jamie Magee debut novel that will sure be a big hit with those who love fantasy tales that has a rich storyline and fantastic and believable characters. It will hold your interest from start to finish and like me, it wil leave you begging for more.

A huge thumbs for Jamie Magee in delivering a solid debut novel that is very unique I can't compare it to anything I have ever read. :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Insight into behind the scenes.. 4 Jan. 2013
    By Rin
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I felt that this book had a brilliant canvas to start with, and wasn't difficult to follow, but became vague in the middle and towards the end. I like the imagination used to create the dimensions and setting but in turn, there was too much use of the adjective 'beautiful' to actually tell what the surroundings were like. I also felt the characters lacked development: they were mostly a name and their relation to the main character, not having a particular role in the story. The romance was also rushed; it could have taken more time to play out.
However, there are many redeeming qualities. The storyline itself is intriguing and found myself wanting to keep reading more (so I'm going to read the next ones!) and a good read once you've established everything in the book. And it's free! I can't knock it for that. So in the end, I did enjoy it - and if you like fantasy, then this is for you.

***I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

I wanted to like this novel, I really did. The book blurb was enticing, the cover was beautiful and Jamie Magee’s writing style is a joy to read. But I just…didn’t.

The story is intriguing, if a little hard to follow initially with so much information to take in, but I loved the idea of multiple worlds and dimensions accessible by those who can travel “the strings” between realms. Unfortunately there then wasn’t a lot more explanation until the final part of the book which left me a little confused at times.

One of my main issues with the novel was the main character Willow. I prefer my heroines to have a little more autonomy, but Willow is a slave to her surroundings. Without much to go on, I didn’t really connect with Willow as a character. Her relationship with Langden was similarly hard to invest in. Because they are simply “soul mates” and that's that, their insta-love is hard to buy into and seems hurried, despite pages upon pages being dedicated to them gazing adoringly into each others eyes. I'd much preferred to see a more organic start to their relationship, or even some conflict around the idea that you have one soul mate, you meet them and you have no choice but to love and adore them, but it doesn't happen. It’s not a good sign that I could describe the blue of Landen’s eyes in about ten different ways, but I couldn’t picture Willow at all. The boom establishes that once beings find their soul mate, they become their world. Everything they love. Ok, fine. Let’s move on…oh no, another chapter of eye gazing and hand holding. Ok then.

The dimensions and character building was lacking a little, described only in relation to Willow.

    3.0 out of 5 stars Insight - Jamie Magee 14 July 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It usually takes me 1-2 days to finish a book but for some reason this took me longer.

It isn't that it's a long book, because it isn't, I think it's that it took me forever to get into the storyline, so I would put the book down and think about what I've just read, then pick it up a little while after and read again, only to put it down again, it did become quite frustrating.

It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, because I did, and I began to fully understand what was actually happening towards the end....

Here we meet Willow a young girl who learned from an early age she was different. She never told her parents that she was different she could only confide in her best friend "Dane".

At some parts in the the book I felt like there was nothing really happening after we met the lovely Landon.

We know from the beginning that Drake is portrayed an evil person out to get her, but was no proof as of yet.

At times, I found myself confused.

I also understand that Willow and Landon are soul mates. When they finally meet it's like BOOM! Instant love. They don't really have a reason for loving each other, other than the fact that they're soul mates and are meant to be together.

The character building could of been better, could of giver you a better "Insight" to their personalities. I don't really understand what Willow's personality is, as a reader, I didn't really connect to her.

So you may think that this is negative criticism, but I did enjoy the book, the parts that I understood what was going on. You finally get an understanding as to what it actually happening and what is expected from both Willow & Landon, is the last 3-4 chapters in the book.
