Most Helpful Customer Reviews

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful By Kenneth F. Mcara VINE VOICE on 27 Feb 2012
Format: Paperback
This is an impressively well produced book on Turkey, which covers all of the issues which travellers are likely to be interested in. There are helpful sections on history and culture before the main guide to places of interest, all of which is illustrated with excellent colour photography, occasionally spread over 2 pages, and clear maps. Good quality glossy paper, extremely clear print and input from locally-based writers make this one of the finer - if not the finest - travel guides to Turkey available. Although it has a 'soft' cover, the pages are bound as they would be in a hardback, so you won't end up cracking the spine. There are also fold-over extensions to the front and back covers which allow larger maps to be printed inside, and are cleverly designed to allow you to tuck them into the book and keep your place without resorting to an extra bookmark.

It's important to note, however, that quality paper means that this book is not particularly light. You may want to carry it in your hand luggage if you are watching the kilos for your cases in the hold of the plane. Equally, for day-to-day use when you are out exploring you will probably want to have a smaller local guide such as Turkey: Mediterranean Coast, pocket guides from Thomas Cook, having used the larger volume to research and plan your itinerary.

Excellent book for visitors to Turkey. Well written;lots of pictures and information for the traveler. Carry it in your hand baggage as it is quite weighty.

I borrowed this guide from my local library the first time I went to Turkey. I am going again this year and decided to buy it as it is so informative.

I found this product to be very useful.
we spent 10 days in turkey driving around from istanbul to
the cappadocia and thanks to this very well designed guide we managed
to see many sites that we wouldn't have known otherwise.

I thought it was very well structured with a good balance between
pictures, text and history.

i would recommend it!
