Potential purchasers of this book should beware its title. This volume is not just about northern France - it covers the west and middle of France too - stretching as far as La Rochelle, the Loire, Burgundy and Brittany. Consequently, the guide offers only sketchy information about Northern France, if you define 'Northern France' as that part of France north of Paris.

On a recent trip to northern France I took this guide, and found it very useful for selecting what to see. It is, of course, bang up to date (at the time of writing). One of the attractions is the large number of colour illustrations. It also includes some interesting short articles, including on Battlefields & Cemeteries, Food & Drink of Northern France, etc. Overall a useful guide that I would recommend.
