The Insight range of guides is consistently good and this one is no exception.
It has enough detail about the various sights/buildings etc and the suggested walks are clear and easy to follow - or just to use as ideas to make sure you visit the main places.
Being compact, the guide is light and easy to carry around.

As always an excellent companion for city tours. A must have if one really wants to explore, although Bruges is relatively small and easy to find one's way around. A bit more info about the main historical sights would be helpful.

Bruges is a tiny little city, yet this book of walks did make it harder to find our way around. You can explore it yourself on foot much more easily. It is also obsessed with eateries to the point of practically writing off the Burg (Basilica of the Holy Blood, city hall, etcetera) because there is only one cafe. There is very little about what makes the city special.
