I won't comment on the film as many others have already done so, but personally I didn't enjoy it. The most annoying thing is the awful sound quality. In various parts it is so obvious the sound has been added it's ridiculous. The quiet bits are that quiet you can hardly hear what is being said and have to turn the sound up high. The loud bits are so damn loud they could burst your ear drums! Very irritating and totally unnecessary and certainly didn't enhance the film for me - quite the opposite. I spent most of the film turning the sound up and down. I saw the blu-ray version so maybe the DVD doesn't have this issue.
BTW I didn't purchase this i watched it via LoveFilm but it's not possible to write a review for just LoveFilm since Amazon took them over!

How has this rubbish got 4 stars? I've seen every decent horror going and this certainly isn't one. Much like the first but worse. Utter pants.

i enjoyed the original Insidious even though it was very corny
it had some quite spooky moments & some jump out of your seat moments .. BUT
Insidious 2 had no scary moments at all
the scariest bit was in the start up menu !
i have no idea why this was rated 15 - weak.
rent the woman in black instead
rated 12 but heaps scarier &a much better watch

I loved the first one, so had high expectations for the sequel, and I wasn't disappointed. Without giving anything away, a lot of twists in the first are answered in the second. Would recommend to movie buffs who like a clever scare, rather than ghost jumps out the closet type.

Overall a very dull and poor sequel. The mistake here was bringing back the main cast, who hardly lit up the original. Like the first film there is too much spoonfeeding going on, not everyone who watches this movie is 12 years old you know. This sequel picks up where the original left off, but really takes it time to get into gear. By the end of it all you're thinking that the kid actors are way better than any adult here. There is one standout scene, a kind of mini time travel one that relates straight to the originals banging door scene, cleverly done. Other than that, this franchise is already becoming a drag, and of course it's all left open for a possible 3rd movie.

Well this was a huge let-down. What on earth happened? Where did all the scary demons and shocks go? What about the red-faced monster? Yes, Insidious part 1 ripped off a lot of well-known films such as Poltergeist but at least it did it with a solid script and some pacey storytelling that kept me gripped and had genuinely scary monsters and a tense atmosphere throughout.

This second part continues to harvest its material from Poltergeist (even has an appearance from a spooky television!) but also thieves shamelessly from sources as diverse as Ghostbusters (geeks catching ghosts), The Shining (crazed man attacks family), Back To The Future (yep, time travel), Amytyville Horror (possessed good guy goes bad) and Blair Witch (yes, there are tedious 'found footage' style scenes in here).

James Wan this time has dispersed of the varied and scary demons of part 1 and opted instead for lame, pathetically non-scary ghosts, in particular the 'bride' ghost from part 1 - for whom a lame backstory has been retro-fitted needlessly.

I would say the dreadful "retro-fitting" is one of the main problems with Insiduous Chapter 2. It felt like an explanatory guide at times rather than a thriller, and the result is a mess of a tale that has all of its tension sucked out of it.

The red-faced demon of part 1 was awesome and made the whole film work. Without him/it, this is just a by-the-numbers ghost story with no real scares or punches.

It also felt very "sequel-ish" by which I mean it feels like an add-on with reduced budget and exhausted ideas thrown up on screen for the sake of extending the story.

Just a mess. Uninspired. Thinks it's clever.
First one was 'meh, okay' this one was just terrible. I really lost all interest in the end mainly because even though you could tell where Wan wanted to go he didn't know how to get there and so we're bombarded with cringe-worthy homages and tired cliches.

I loved insidious and hoped for an as good sequal, it failed in some parts like keeping to the storyline of carrying on from the 1st movie and didn't have any jumpy parts. I'd call it a luke warm movie.
