first there was Heat, now there's The Insider...,

Michael Mann's previous movie Heat was outstanding and so was the soundtrack. His latest movie the Insider and it's soundtrack are just as good. Each of Mann's soundtracks to his films fit each movie perfectly and The Insider is no exception. The score for the Insider, composed by Gladiator songbird Lisa Gerrard with Pieter Bourke is a soundtrack that you dont need to have seen the film to enjoy, as it stands alone as an album in it's own right. Each track from the pulsating 'Tempest' to the slow, laid back sounds of 'Meltdown' has something different to offer including a few surprises, Massive Attack's Safe From Harm, for example, one of the many highlights of the album. My personal favourites have to be - 'Sacrifice', 'Tempest', 'Safe From Harm', Liquid Moon,'I'm Alone On This' and... oh, hell who am i kidding, the lot. I love this album, it is superb. If you liked Gladiator, or any type of music for that matter, this one is for you. An essential CD!!!

Meltdown...,

This album is superb, it reminds me a little of Craig Armstrong's 'The Space Between Us' as each track compliments each scene it is taken from.Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke score 'The Insider' whilst various other artists contribute songs which fit the feel and tone of the album brilliantly. A fantastic album that stands alone as a great chill-out album. The many highlights include - 'Sacrifice' (the theme from the film) 'Iguazu', 'Safe From Harm' and 'Meltdown' (a perfect example of Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke's wonderous talent) Another song that would have fitted this album perfectly that isn't in the film, nor the album is Moby's 'Inside' from his Play album. It has that sort of tense chilled feel to it. However, the album as it stands is great and one that you will turn to constantly. P.S - Look out for the soon to be released score to the new movie 'ALI' scored by Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke!

so so calming..,

The Insider is such a great film, but the mood has much to do with this soundtrack. Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke's scored tracks are absolutely entrancing and the perfecto mix of massive attack's safe from harm is excellent. But the highlight of this CD for me is Iguazu by Gustavo Santaolalla. It is only a short piece, but in those few minutes, close your eyes, and all is well. well worth having.
