Product Description

Synopsis

The Inside Story on Channel 4' s Hottest Series in Years; Since bursting onto Channel 4 earlier this year, The West Wing has emerged as one of the UKs most riveting shows. Through its snappy dialogue, Washington-insider references and stellar acting, the show looks at US politics like no other TV series has before. This book gives all the insider info on its incredible success. In Inside the West Wing, author Paul Challen takes a detailed look at this hugely popular series: how its put together, what ideas and political themes drive its plots, and ultimately, why its so popular. Through in-depth interviews with stars such as Martin Sheen and Rob Lowe, commentary from political and entertainment-industry observers, and extensive searches of the numerous official and unofficial websites available, Challen provides a comprehensive look inside the show for die-hard fans and casual watchers alike. To round out the package, Inside the West Wing also contains actor profiles, and an episode-by-episode guide to the first two series - including the cliffhanger shooting of President Bartlett.

3.0 out of 5 stars A handy reference guide, 12 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Although there's nothing new for the dedicated West Wing fan its a handy reference guide covering bios of the main cast and regular guests as well as short episode guide for series 1 & 2. The most interesting parts of the book are at the start with a chapter about how Aaron Sorkin's idea came to the small screen and then a chapter dealing with the critics and press response to the show. Some photos but mainly publicity/press type shots. As its unauthorised, this book steals a march on the authorised version which is due out in 2002, but it lacks depth and original input from creators or cast.
