Product Description

Product Description

Nicola Sullivan is an aspiring young trainer, certain that given the right horses she is as good as anyone in the business. Until, that is, an owner removes two horses to another yard, and one shows dramatic improvement. She enlists the help of her brother, Jamie, once a star flat jockey, now trying to revive his racing career over fences after a harrowing term in prison. But former wild boy Jamie has his own demons to deal with, like the new challenge of jumps riding, the hostility of those who can never forgive him for a young lad's death - and the black wall within him that separates him from his past. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars best so far, 21 Dec 2005

This review is from: Inside Track (Paperback)
I am writing this review, as this has got to be the best john francome book, he has wrote so far.

jockey Jamie had a successful career riding flat races, until a car accident in which he lost his memory, puts him in prison for a hit and run. this book starts when he is released, he has to learn a new trade as a jump jockey, his sister pippa cant understand why her horses are starting to lose. pippa's father in law has started having a lot of winners, some were ones pippa has lost from her yard. what is pippa doing wrong ? Jamie's ex prison mate dave can tell her, when he visits her father in law's yard. pippa's husband starts killing some blackmailers, then it seems he cant stop.

i think it is unusual that we know who the killer is from the beginning, however this adds to the book's appeal.

i read this book cover to cover within 24 hours.

One of Francome's best ever. Well written, well paced and the way he portrays the differing characters is astounding. One of Francome's best if not his best. I look forward to his next book.
