5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful album, 14 Nov 2007
I felt I had to leave some comments about this album to ensure anyone who was tempted to buy this album to go ahead and order it!

After seeing Emmy Rossum give the performance she gave in the Phantom of the Opera film with the crystal clear and well shaped voice that she has I was interested to see what kind of album she would produce for the mass market. Admittedly I was surprised it wasn't more mainstream i.e. pop/r&b etc but was really pleased to see the direction she has gone in.

As mentioned in another review the first thing that struck me was the album style is very influenced by the likes of Enya with many layered tracks of Emmy's voice to create an almost heavenly sounding choir. The vocal arrangements are quite complex too to add a further level of listening pleasure. After a few listens you'll still hear new vocal harmonies you hadn't picked up before.

In amongst the slower a capella ballads there are a few more upbeat, modern arrangements that still feature the layered vocals but have more of a beat to them and are very catchy.

All in all, you can hear the quality of her voice and her obvious training and why she has featured in musicals before now. This album can be played anytime of day as something to listen to or in the background or even later in the evening as mood music. I often play it as I get ready to turn in for the night as it's very relaxing.

I really hope this album does well because I hope to see another album soon from Emmy Rossum.

4.0 out of 5 stars One word - Amazing..., 13 Nov 2007
By B. T. Duc "decon10000" (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I love this album; her voice is silky & soft like velvet;
the music is emotional & enchanting like magic.

Emmy Rossum talents has been proved in the Phantom of Opera,
Poisedon, and few other movies,
But this album is definately going to be her carrier defining moment.

You can find the ressemblance in her voice with Delta Goodrem,
or Sarah McLachlan, but while Ms Goodrem is turing into
the younger, upbeat pop tunes, Ms Rossum is turing back
to basic, to purity. And like I've always said,
simplicity is the best. In this case, it really works wonderfully well.

All of the songs will remind you to the world of music
created by Enya or Sarah Brightman, especially the single Slow me Down,
or the Lord of the Ring inspiration: the Great Divine.
Not too many instruments, acappella most of the time
or just a light touch of Piano, violin and electronic beats,
basically it's my Mr Right guy! :)

The beauty of the album outbursts at the final song: Been to long.
Pure & moving vocal, haunting piano & violin arrangement
and beatiful lyrics. It just took my breath away.

So, to conclude, Although I'm fearing that this album and
the artist herself might be under-rated, I will still believe in her,
wish her all the best and waiting for much much more sublime works to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars great!
i first saw emmy in the phantom of the opera and she obviously has an amazing classical voice but she also has amazing voice on this "pop" album. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much editing
Whilst I like the album, I think the editing hasn't done Emmy Rossum credit, there are too many effects and not enough long vocal phrases where she can really show off her voice.
