Format:Audio CD
By far, for me, the best work ever put out by The Edgar Broughton Band appeared on this album. The cover sets the mood for the album with the guy standing outside the prison walls, which should go down as one of the most powerful album covers ever produced. From the opening track (a brilliantly put-together 3 parter) the album just gets better and better. There's a lot of social comment on the album, most notably on 'I Got Mad' (who remembers Soledad these days?). 'They Took It Away' picks up on the plight of the homeless while 'Double Agent' appears to be a direct attack on the fatcats in the music business (biting the hand that feeds, perhaps?). According to the sleeve notes on the re-release, John Lennon loved 'Homes Fit For Heroes' which is as good an indictment as you're ever likey to get (unless it came from Bowie of course!). The best track on the album has to be 'It's Not You' which was apparently an amazing piece of studio improvization from the 'rant' onwards, probably the best track they ever recorded. With 3 excellent bonus tracks, if you only ever have one EBB album in your collection, make it this one.
