Product Description

Michael Mosley embarks on an astonishing voyage through the world's most complex organism--you.

Inside The Human Body takes us deep under our skin where we are dwarfed by even the smallest cell, where blood vessels become vast cathedrals and the tiniest cluster of cilia becomes an expansive forest.

Our body’s almost infinite ability to adapt and surprise is illustrated by the stories of remarkable characters whose bodies allow them to do amazing things, live in incredible places and push their physiology to the limits. Spectacular photography shows human behaviour in super slow motion, revealing elements of ourselves that we are completely unaware of.

I've just finished watching this entire series on iPlayer - took me 2 sittings.

I enjoyed it so much as soon as I finished the last program I came on here and pre-ordered it to add to my growing collection of similar programs (Life On Earth, The Living Planet, The Wonders Of The Solar System, etc etc)

It really doesn't hurt to be reminded again and again how precious and wonderful you, your existence in this world and the existence of this amazing universe we are part of actually are, and is something the BBC seem particularly good at achieving. This series is another such triumph in my humble opinion.

I have nothing but admiration and respect for Gerald and his family for showing, simply, how much a part of living dying actually is. The moment when the 8 year old indian girl see's her face again, after surgery to fix her cleft palate, is something that makes you proud to be part of the human race. The explanations and imagery around simple things like breathing, conception, balance - all outstanding. Even the elements that made me cringe a bit (the guy who gets new hands for instance) at least left me thinking hard about how far we go / should go to preserve life and its quality, and the understated example showing the differences for the pregnant woman in Africa against the one having triplets over here was a particularly clever bit of programming.

Uplifting, awe inspiring, amazing, thought provoking, informative and entertaining. If you want something to balance the "horror of humankind" that is all too often pushed on us by the mass media, simply put, buy this ! (and no, I'm not on commission lol)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 1 July 2011

A truly wonderful combination! This programme is simultaneously uplifting and educational. It also has stunningly crafted images.

I am a doctor and I know most of the facts presented. However, the programme still captivated me with Mosley's gripping presentation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting & extremely educational 1 Jun 2011

I have to thank my sister for introducing this series to me, I have enjoyed every second of it.

There are a lot of detailed computer animated scenes to show you what happens within the body so you can get a good idea of what happens, there are some scenes which some people may find "disturbing" obviously unintended to upset anyone, but the fact is this is life and this is what happens, you can't just hide yourself to what can happen.

Nevertheless this series is extremely educational, with a lot of facts that I didn't even know until now, I would recommend this for older children, but would recommend parents to watch through it first to make sure it is 100% suitable for their kids age, if you think they will be able to handle some scenes I think this DVD would be very beneficial to their education.

Top stars from me!
