PLAY IT AGAIN LEE ! 15 Jun. 2000
By SpondyBlondie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
What you would expect of Lee Konitz - toe tapping stuff. His playing has an ethereal quality you cant quite define and the bass backing is a standard a little above the norm of what you would expect of a album of this quality. This timeless quality is a must for the collection of all alto and tenor sax fans!

Classic Fifties Jazz 4 July 2000
By S. Baird - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I couldn't agree more with Ms Sanford's assessment of this exceptional recording. I can only add that while Konitz is known primarily for his work with the alto saxophone, his performances here on the tenor take the cake.
If the artist is new to you, be assured that he is in the same league as Rollins, Hawkins and Young -- that is to say he will likely become one of your favorite sax players given the chance. I can think of no better Konitz collection to begin with than this one.

Lee Konitz Inside Hi-Fi 17 Nov. 2008
By Peter J. Poulos - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
This is another one of those Great Atlantic Lps that Lee Konitz put out in the 1950's The Cd adds some Tenor Sax tracks that Konitz shows he can generate some Cool heat and in my opinion could have switched horns and still made an incredible impact in Jazz. After all Charlie Parker advised a young Tenor player by the name of Gerry Mulligan to switch to Baritone and you see what an impact that had! The Band Mates on this particular album are Great as well!!
