The insects are high quality and large - useful as aversion therapy for arachnophobia maybe (if the set contained any spiders that is)? I would have liked more variety. More than half the insects are beetles, though the beetle most people recognise - the ladybird - is conspicuous by its absence. No spiders, bees, wasps, woodlice, moths, aphids or dragonflies either. And given that few of us are entomologists a species list would have been invaluable. I think Wild Republic have done much better with their other sets of creatures.
I e-mailed Wild Republic and they got back to me with this species list:
- Monarch Butterfly
- Grasshopper
- Praying Mantis
- Fly
- Red Ant (better known in the UK as a fire ant?)
- Stag Beetle
- Jewel Beetle
- Blue Ant (not convinced about this one)
- Rhino Beetle
They seem to have missed one but this is pretty good customer service.
