This really captures blood-thirsty frenzied insanity well! Patients in an asylum are being experimented on like lab rats inadvertently leading to a bloody zombie-style phenomenon. Not the most original of storylines and lacking in any real substance but Jesse Metcalf proves himself to be a versatile and watchable actor. Plently of blood and gore so if that's your thing and you're a fan of the genre, you'll probably like this!

I was very surprised that this movie has such a low rating on here - it's actually very good!
Jesse Metcalfe fakes insanity in order to get commited into the same institution as his sister (who became severely depressed after their mother's death) so he can get her out.
However, things are not as they seem in the sanitarium and the patients are being subjected to..."experimental"...new medications...
I thought this movie did an excellent job of blending together so many different sub-genres of horror - with a fair bit of the psychological thriller. The acting and the plot pace were both great as was the suspence-to-gore ratio.
Ignore bad reviews, this movie deserves a chance and does not disappoint.

The first half of the film is a bit slow but the second half really picks up with the good guys chased through the corridors (and ventilation shafts) of the hospital by the rabid inmates.
Theres various limbs ripped off, stomach gougings and a scene to upset cat lovers so enough to keep most horror fans happy.
I actually ended up thinking it was pretty good which was surprising after such a poor start. Its still the sort of DVD that will be in the bargain bins very soon!!

Low budget gore fest with crazed inmates running aroung eating each other very much in the vein of 28 days later. Rubber limbs are thrown about and buckets of fake blood flow. Watch if have nothing better to do on a saturday night.

Pretty well filmed but I think they misjudged how interesting the plot was.

The first hour of the film is pretty dull, its long winded and not that interesting, if condensed to half that it would be fine. Once the action starts the film improves damatically. However it doesn't know what it is a serious horror or a comedy horror, it treads an uncertain middle ground that fails at both. That said it is gory and funny enough, with only a few "why did they do something so dumb" moments.

This movie is utter rubbish! It reminded me of 28 Days Later (more drivel) The story is all over the place and I left the room for 5 minutes to do something even more unpleasant... have a cigarette!!! I came back in the room to find my other half yawning and asking if we could turn it off. I made him sit through the rest to see if it got any better... it didnt. It was about as gripping as a toast crumb on a plate! Complete waste of time & money.
