I bought this to take away on expedition. It is light and can work from a range of mains voltages plus 12V DC. It has so far charged up my Panasonic HDC-SD900 battery and some batteries from my compact digital camera. It can do this because of the + and - terminals, which can be moved to suit the terminals on the battery. After setting the distance, you wiggle the battery into position until the screen registers the voltage and begins charging. The sliding cover acts to clamp the battery in position. There are set terminals for use with AA and AAA batteries.
All in all this seems to be an excellent product that should enable me to take fewer chargers with me.
It only misses out on the 5th star because of build quality, which is probably the trade-off for weight.

Quite useful, It charges my camera batteries (Panasonic HDC-SD900) which come in at 7.2 volts and also AA and AAA rechargeable which are rated at 1.2 Volts. Seems to work well for them all and is a fast charger. The only problem I have is that it slides open to accommodate the various sizes and locks, and when released it has ambitions to emulate Ronnie Barkers till in open all hours. (Yes I know that dates me). I almost forgot, It doesn't handle anything that bulks bigger than AA size in the cylindrical batteries, neither will it handle PP3 9 Volt. It will accommodate some of the LC14500 Lithium size (Which has similar same dimensions as an AA, it depends on the make ) but not a LC18650. However I have also discovered that it will not charge Li-ion LC14500 Lithium of the size that will fit, that are nominally rated at 3.6 v or 3.7 volt most other LI-ion chargers that I have used will charge both. I have not tried it on 3.2 v varieties. A bit disappointing.

This charger is well made and in theory at least, saves having to carry separate chargers for AA batteries and for your camera battery. The inclusion of both car and mains power leads further enhances it's usefulness... but, if you camera has a mutli-'pronged' battery for intelligent charging, as my Nikon D7000 does (5 contacts), you are out of luck.

With the increasing use of Li-ion batteries of all shapes, the desk is getting gradually filled with various chargers. This should address that to some extent. It also means that when travelling, we only need to take one charger - quite a boon as we're headed to Oz next year. The car charger cable will be very useful too.

I've noticed a few batteries have a 3rd contact, generally labelled 'T' that the original chargers connect to. I guess that's some internal testing system. This doesn't use that. Whether it means the charger doesn't work in the same manner I can't say.
But I've used to to charge an Olympus BLM1 battery and a Fuji NP-45. Both seemed to work fine. The Oly battery was a new battery bought at the same time. It seemed to run out very fast. But I was using the flash and Live view a lot, plus quite a few longer exposures. All of which eat batteries. Whether it was the battery being new or the charger I don't really know. But I charged it again using the original charger to see of there's any difference. The Fuji battery seems to be behaving exactly as normal. Which would suggest its down to the new battery not being at full capacity quite yet.

Overall, it'll be very very useful. But I'll not be dumping the original chargers just yet.

I brought this battery charger rather than using the charger plug that came with my camera.

One thing that took time to get my head around was the pins, they can be fiddly if your in a rush. But apart from that its good.

I especially love the USB socket because I can simply use my camera's USB cable and charge it that way aswell as charging one in the charger.
I really do recommend this

I had previously purchased the model before this one and found it to be very reliable. It can charge ANY of my camera batteries plus a few more like the AA and AAA cells. The updated model, this one, has additional features and in particular it has a USB port (5V) for charging other types of batteries and devices, for example, mobile phone batteries. The charger can be mains powered using the provided power adapter (240Vac -> 12Vdc) and it can be operated from a vehicles 12Vdc supply using the cigar/cigarette lighter socket. I feel sure it can also be powered using a universal 100Vac - 240Vac power adapter too but it would require the right kind of connector for the INOV8 charger. This type of power adapter would have to be purchased separately.

I no longer possess this particular charger because I gave it away as a gift but I am seriously considering buying another for my own use. A second charger is always very useful and they are not expensive.

The charger comes supplied with a comprehensive instruction manual but I have found, as an expert user, that a few minutes tuition is all that is necessary to teach a new user how to operate it.

I cannot recall exactly how much I paid for my first INOV8 charger but I am certain it was much higher that what Amazon is asking for it now. This is possibly the only camera battery charger you will every need. Model 2 is even better value .
