Innovative Adornments by J. Persico,

This review is from: Innovative Adornments: An Introduction to Fused Glass and Wire Jewelry (Paperback)
Lovely book, full of beautiful photos of glass jewellery. Lots of information on equipment (including a comprehensive chapter on kilns) and techniques used in making wire and glass jewellery. No information on using glass 'donuts' but, unusually, a whole chapter on making dress watches. Other chapters cover pendants, rings, bracelets and earrings. Would be nice if the chapter on pendants included more varied mounting techniques. All in all, a fabulous book packed with colour photographs.

Good starter book,

This is an excellent book to introduce one to the delights of fusing glass to make cabuchons. It is only a small book so does not go into great detail but it is enough to get started and to get confidence and inspiration from. I have enjoyed browsing through it and look forward to playing with glass.

Not for beginners,
By catseye "K" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Innovative Adornments: An Introduction to Fused Glass and Wire Jewelry (Paperback)
I feel like I wasted my money on this book. Although some of her projects are interesting, her explanation of the fusing process in general was skimpy, and of no help to beginners at all. For example, how long SHOULD one leave glass for a cabachon in the kiln? She gives average temperatures, but no times for actual fusing. 10 minutes? 2 hours? The beginner is left standing there holding pieces of cut glass and staring at her kiln, having no idea what she should do next. And as for advancing to the wire wrapping and cutting, no way... There are much better books out there, and I wish Ms. Persico would return my money on this one.

GREAT Inspiration for Jewelry Maker !!,
By Amber Zehnder "EnchantressJewelry.com" - Published on Amazon.com

I totally disagree with the previous reviewer. I LOVE this book and I pick it up often to look at all of the beautiful pictures. I loved seeing the dichroic glass cut into various shapes and then worked with wire. I also thought the wire bracelets with lampwork beads were neat, and not too hard to make. I started making jewelry 14 years ago and I've seen a lot of designs and a lot of books. If you want a book with colorful pictures for inspiration, you fuse glass AND make jewelry...this is a great book to own.

No addornment and NOT innovative,
By Lisa F. Kroening - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Innovative Adornments: An Introduction to Fused Glass and Wire Jewelry (Paperback)
Don't waste your money. This book is not for any level of expertize. It is to shallow to be helpful to someone with moderate experience in glass fusing and to non-informative to be helpful for someone just starting out. This book has very few projects and leaves a lot of questions unanswered. The book to buy is Glass Fusing it goes in-depth and step by step into several projects and she is very knowledgable.
