This was a sorry read in which the heroine is accused of adultery with her best 'boy' friend and is forced to leave the hero who in the 56 days that they are apart manages to have numerous sexual encounters and have a resident mistress!

Predictably they have to get back together for their respective families, she continually whines 'why can't you forgive me' and when a pregnancy is announced, said best friend confesses that he lied! They reveal their love for each other and live happily ever after.

Disappointing read...would love to read a story where there is fidelity in the face of adversity! Let's have some real men rather that those who feel that there sexual needs have to be met every 3 days!

I enjoyed reading this book. It kept me captivated and in suspense till the end of the story. They are so many twists that it makes you wonder which character or characters could have done what and why. And Keira Worthington-the heroine is a strong character despite been shunned by her husband, media and parents for her alleged infidelity. She was kicked out of home and was on verge of divorce, when fate intervenued, she was taken back in. Keira Worthington sought forgiveness from her husband Patrizio Trelini but he did not budge. He made no attempt to investigate what she was saying but instead insulted her at every opportunity and I was happy that she insulted him back. Regardless everything else, sparks flew between them. Finding out about her pregnancy worsened the situation. In the end everything turned out ok.

Is it just me or . . . . 19 Mar 2009
By Vanessa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Is it just me or are the Harlequin heroines just pushovers????? This book kinda irritated me in that he believes she cheated on him because of the "so called" evidence and when she believed the same of him she wasn't supposed to jump to conclusions????? WHAT???? He says he can't forgive her and that she gave her body to another man that everytime he looks at her he pictures that creeps hands on her. Um . . . didn't he have several flings after their break up??? Plus he even admits to that and that doesn't seem to bother her? He also says something about how she destroyed his love for her by giving herself to another man while still legally married to him. When he was sleeping around weren't the H/h still LEGALLY married?? Why doesn't she call him out on this?? I don't get it???? What century is she from? Why is it that the supposed contemporaries have the heroines acting like wimps and women that will overlook this behavior while the historical h's don't? What is wrong with this picture?

An angst-ridden read with a bitter aftertaste 3 Jan 2010

I felt sorry for the heroine, thought the hero was an absolute jerk, and spent much of my reading time pulling my hair out! The heroine takes the blame - not to mention the public ridicule - for something you later find that she didn't do. This is probably where the "Innocent Wife" part of the title comes from. Anyway, the hero offers her a six-week reconciliation before they finalize their very, very messy divorce. The reasons for it were rather ridiculous to me, but it served to get guy and girl together in one place, so I was willing to go with it. What I wasn't willing to go along with was the hateful way the hero treated his wife. His treatment of her was insulting and bordered on sexual and emotional abuse. I could not see why the woman loved him at all.

I didn't like the double standard to the story either. It really bothered me that the hero slept around during their very, very short separation, while they were still legally married, and that he took great pleasure in telling his wife about it. Never once does she call him on this, not even after they find that she never cheated on him in the first place! He accuses her of destroying his love because she gave herself to another man, but his sleeping around is okay and doesn't even warrant an apology in the end? This issue is never resolved and the unfairness and stupidity of it left me feeling very sullen and disappointed.

I found this a hard story to rate. I want to give it 1 star because of all the issues I had with it, but I must admit that it was very well-written and the plot was quite intricate. The author did a very good job of feeding me little tidbits of info as the story went along, little things that furthered the story and broadened the mystery of what actually happened between the heroine and the guy she allegedly slept with. I suppose, just for that, I should give it an extra star - although it's a grudgingly given one.

The Book of Human Follies & Confusion 7 April 2008
By Capri of Isle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have to say I tried not to like this book, but found myself more intrigued than I wanted to be the main characters Patrizio and Keira and the supporting characters, made you have a mixture of wanting to shake both of them at times, but also wanting something of a happy ending to come out of all the Muck and Myer they had made out of their all to brief marriage. The plot is rather mixed up from the word go. Patrizio and Keira pretend to reconcile in order to help their respective relatives get through school. Keira's brother and Patrizio's nephew who attend the same school were once best friends but have fallen out over the break up of Keira and Patrizio's marriage. Yes, I know it's far fetched if you asked me, but I suppose the author had to find a legit reason for bringing together two people who were at odds with one another and on the brink of divorce.

So, the two decide to play happy family for the sake of the boys and end up emotionally abusing each other through out the book, most of the abuse being on Patrizio's side because he believes that Keira committed adultery with her best friend, only after she accused him of doing the same thing with another woman. As you can see its a mess.

Keira goes through the story tortured about the adultery that she is not even certain she committed and only can go on the words of her "best friend" because she can't recall all that happened that night. Thus she allows herself to be verbally abused at every turn by her husband and used sexually because in her mind she still loves him although she is 75% convinced that she has cheated on him.........yeap this is a doozie. And to add insult to injury she finds out that she is pregnant and is not sure if the child is her best friend's or her husbands......and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

As absurd as it all sounds it's no worse than what we tune in to watch on television most times these days. I give it 2 stars for the sheer drama of it all and one star because the author in my opinion gave you a full view of the emotional struggles and demons of both characters, it wasn't as one sided as some of harlequins books tend to be.
