Although I would agree to some extent with the other reviewer, that this is a strange book, the paintings more than make up for it. Most are stunning representations of a cosmic Hendrix, with one being used on the original Berkely video (sadly replaced on the dvd version with a standard photo of Jimi). The inclusion of the 9 pages of photos on the day before Jimi died is macabre, but certainly the last photos we have of him.
Monika Dannemann is remembered very negatively by many Hendrix fans but this, her legacy, is a worthy inclusion to any collection.

Without a doubt the strangest biog yet. Dannemann was a German ice-skater who enjoyed a brief fling with Jimi in the final days of his life. According to her book though, she and Jimi were soulmates who were going to be married. And to illustrate her point she accompanies her rambling, and at times legally precarious text with a series of paintings, many of which portray her and Jimi locked in interplanetary embraces. The paintings are indeed mostly very, very good, but at the same give the book the feel of a stalker's scrap-book. (Dannemann committed suicide in 1995)
