Inner Beauty, Innner Light. Yoga for Pregnant Women by Frederick Leboyer,
By
This review is from: Inner Beauty, Inner Light: Yoga for Pregnant Women (Paperback)
I have praticed Iyengar Yoga for over 8yrs and have a wonderful tutor.
I am 16 weeks pregnant and my tutor suggested that i read this book over the first trimester as you can not strictly practice safely until after 14 weeks. All i really want to say about this book is that it is beautiful, to read, look at and to have, a must have for any avid Iyengar Student, with the added bonus of the pictures included in the book are one of BKS Iyengars daughters and even a few of the master himself, it is easy to see the postures clearly and would inspire any student pregnant or not to practice regularly, wonderfully inspiring for body and mind.

A beautiful book, if not very helpful.,
By L. Stabler - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Inner Beauty, Inner Light: Yoga for Pregnant Women (Paperback)
The photography and poetry/prose in this book is phenomenal! However, if you are looking for a quality, practical book in yoga during pregnancy this isn't it. There are no descriptions nor illustrations of specific poses. It would be very difficult for someone with limited or no experience with yoga to pick up this book and find it useful. For a more practical book on yoga during pregancy I would recommend _Yoga for Pregnancy : Safe and Gentle Stretches_ by Sandra Jordan.

amazing,magical,

The Yoga in this book is not accessible to all,but just looking at the pictures and reading the text is enough to transport you to a whole new realm, a peaceful, calming, happy place where pregnancy and birth are no longer a burden or a physical challenge, but a beautiful natural state to be celebrated and embrassed, that you can tame and enjoy. Leboyer was not only the leading ob-gyn when it comes to natural childbirth, but also a man who understood and loved Women, their needs and their abilities while pregnant. This book was made while working with Vanita Iyengar, the beautiful daughter of the famous Yoga Guru, and the pictures are out of this world. The Poetry is so inspiring and calming,it works almost like hypnosis...

not a yoga guide,
By R. R. Ernst "rrernst" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Inner Beauty, Inner Light (Paperback)
This book is not about how to do yoga. It is not for a beginning yoga student. It is probably of interest more to the yogini who has been practicing for some time and is now pregnant. It may be of interest to Iyengar followers as the photos are all of Iyengar's daughter when she was days before delivering her boy. This is a philosphy book, not a how-to book. The prose is spaced more like poetry so there isn't a lot of content in this book.
