Have been interested in Pinback for a while (as well as Rob Crow's solo stuff and the magnificent Goblin Cock) but have only a sketchy collection of their tunes (i.e. one previous album and an E.P). Was very interested to hear this new album and after a few listens I have concluded this is just another quite brilliant album amongst a canon of excellence. Every song drips beauty, sadness and hope in equal measure - not knowing the lyrics inside out yet I can only put that down to some freakish chord structuring or the interplay between vocalists, but there is just something.....mmmm.....incredibly carefully considered in the making of this. Pretty much like all Pinback albums really. I cannot describe this album more than that - everyone will find their own way to appreciate it and different things they find appealing in it. A really splendid album and glad to have discovered them.
