5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Book! 17 Nov. 2012
Format:Paperback
Simon and Martin Toseland have collected a near-pythonesque range of weird and wonderful facts and statistics, to make you marvel at the quirks of the modern world. Infographica gives an unusual and sideways take on the bizarre trivia of life.
The excellent graphic design adds wit and warmth and takes it to a level where it becomes much more than the sum of its parts.
My teenage sons, my husband and my mother all loved it. They started quoting things that had caught their eye. It's funny, off-beat -- and really quite interesting.
Gift problem solved: everyone I know will love to get this for Christmas!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Quality, Quirky Read 28 Nov. 2012
Format:Paperback
If you're the sort of person who likes nothing better than a feast of odd but fascinating facts, then this is the book for you. There's everything here from global stats about Angry Birds players to the luckiest numbers if you want to win the Euromillions lottery. Good graphics too and a great gift idea for Christmas. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas sorted! 27 Nov. 2012
Format:Paperback
Perfect for Christmas - fascinating, funny, random, thought provoking and rather beautiful. I'm pretty sure you couldn't find another book where you can learn to dance and discover which country has the highest percentage of bearded felons.

“Infographica” will appeal to anyone who is a fan of QI. It’s the same sort of mindset of slightly random but quite interesting data - from the World’s fastest roller coasters to the different patterns of age-related baldness and most points in between. Each is presented in a colourful graphic image that is generally themed on the subject matter. There’s no analysis of the data or search for causes - just good old data presented in a fun way. It’s great to dip into and some of the subject matter is genuinely surprising. This makes it a fun book for almost all ages. I have one gripe though - and it is quite a serious one. The authors do not give the sources for their information. This means that you cannot seek out more up to date information but more importantly means that you cannot get any clues as to the validity of the data. In an age where data and “facts” are all around us particularly with the Internet - it is more important than ever to ask “who says that?” in order to sense check for bias, reliability etc. I’m 100% sure that they didn’t make any data up, but if you don’t source your materials then how do we know for sure?

5.0 out of 5 stars Infographica 27 Nov. 2012

We just had to read it all the way thro' from the moment it arrived, Now we can amaze our friends with a mine of useful (and useless) facts and figures for things we never realised we wanted to know, but made for fascinating reading.

Its "interesting" in it's own right, I was hoping to get some more ideas from it to aid in showing data at work but it's not really as helpful in that way. If you want to look at some well presented information and some of which will interest many readers I'm sure then go ahead but if you are looking for tips on how to use / develop techniques then perhaps you are better off elsewhere.

At first glance this looks like one of those books that people buy for others at Christmas, which then lies around unwanted and unread. But it's far from that. It's a mine of useful and useless information, presented in an accessible and entertaining way......and it's hilarious. I've bought copies for my teenage son and my octogenarian father and i'm sure both will love it too. Worth checking out some of the other books by these authors too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Like the idea but... 19 Dec. 2013

Like the theory behind graphic representation of data but this feels a bit familiar after a bout half way. It's not a page turner but a great coffee table read or general kindle HD eye candy as I use it.
