This book contains a number of powerful and exciting tools for understanding not only your internal motivations and drivers, but also those of others. Practical suggestions and pointers are given to help one develop the techniques described in the book. You will need to read and re-read this book in order to effectively absorb the mass of information contained therein - multiple cross-references can be seen in the text. There are several exercises seen throughout the book, so you can get a feel for the way that the influencing techniques work.

Nearly 30 years old and still as valid as when it was written,

In the fields of management, communications and negotiation few books remain valid beyond 10 years. This book really has stood the test of time having been written in the early 1980's. What Ms Laborde taught in this book was taken up by many of the top 100 US and British businesses and has now become deeply embedded in the manner in which they now communicate. IBM were so amazed at the results that they achieved that they bought out the whole of M. Labord's business so as to teach it to their customers.
Yes it is dated in style but the content is as valid now as when it was written. Easy to understand and more importantly easy to apply to the real world of business.

One of the best things about this book is that, as the title suggests, it effectively answers that old chestnut about NLP being manipulative. Genie has simplified the Meta Model down to five types of "Pointers" which you can anchor to your fingers so you can remember them easily! She also has useful exercises for developing sensory acuity.I recommend this book to students on my NLP Practitioner courses, and it's worth reading by anyone interested who wants to communicate more effectively in business.
