It can be very easy to be confused by the info often published on websites and in various books about IBD. As a Crohn's patient and admittedly one who has researched via many channels I highly recommend this book for its useful content and style of writing which unlike others, does not confuse the reader with medical terminology.
Addressing a wide range of issues associated with IBD, Irving and Langmead have together discussed all elements that affect a patient's life. Whether you have recently been diagnosed and need to learn about the basics and think about medication options, or you are unfortunate enough to be further along in disease progression and are considering surgery, this book will take you through the facts (as said in the title!)
Often one problem faced by IBD patients is sharing knowledge about the condition and potential lifestyle restrictions with family, friends and work colleagues. This book is the perfect material for one to read in order to understand how patients go about day-to-day life. Whether support is needed with diet and nutrition, medication (being prompted to remember it!) or just being sympathetic to feeling unwell (and understanding why), the reader will understand more and know how to help a patient who is in their life.
Overall, the book is definitely worth the investment - mine is often in my hand bag or by my side!
