Jim Starlin...Enough said!, 14 Jun 2007
This book is a part of Jim Starlin's magnificent epic "Infinity". To truly understand this Epic you should read, by this order: "Warlock", "The Thanos Quest", "The Infinity Gauntlet", "Infinity War", "Infinity Crusade", "Thanos: Infinity Abyss", "Marvel Universe, The End". To read one without the others could be confusing. Unforgettable characters such as Thanos the Titan (Jim's best creation, as far as I'm concerned), Adam Warlock (Stan and Kirby reinvented character), Pip, and all of Marvel main stream characters, are involved on this cosmic huge arc story. You can also read Adam Warlock's "infinity Watch" comic series.
A must have for any Marvel hard-core collector; to get this comics first printings is better than buying stock market shares or bonds.
Jim Starlin was a Marvel Master, now playing for DC. He debuts with amazing John Romita and Roy Thomas in 1972; strongly under the influence of Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby. Jim Starlin gets recognition for his work with the Shazam Award for Outstanding New Talent in 1973. Jim's beautiful, although dark, stile is missed by all of us, true believers on Marvel gigs. Saudades, Jim Starlin.
If you enjoy Marvel 80's stile super-heroes, you can find as good as, but you can't find better.
If you want to see more of Jim Starlin's all time Marvel work, you should get an amazing 1982 Graphic Novel: "The death of Captain Marvel".

Sensational epic, 18 Feb 2005
I agree with the previous reviewer - this is one of the best Marvel stories ever. Jim Starlin is an extraordinary creative force - I would love him to get the chance to work in movies!! I don't want to give the plot away, I'll just say that this takes the word "epic" to new dimensions. It's also wonderfully intelligent as Jim Starlin always portrays Thanos as morally ambigous, a "grey" area (usually heroes and baddies are black and white in superhero comics). The slightest criticism is that the story peaks about two thirds of the way through and the last section is a slight anticlimax. Apart from that, this is perfection in a comic book.

Brilliant!, 1 Mar 2001
This review is from: Infinity Gauntlet TPB (Paperback)
Possibly the BEST saga Marvel has ever published. Jim Starlin is a genius! The art by George Perez and Ron Lim is awesome as well. The story begins shortly after Thanos of Titan, one of Marvel's most complex villains, has become omnipotent using the Infinity Gems, which give him mastery over Time, Space, Power, the Mind, the Soul and Reality. Believe it or not, Thanos has got all this power for himself not because of love of power itself, but because he's in love with Death (not just the concept, but Death herself, who is a character), and has been ordered by her to kill off half the universe's sentient population, to correct what Death perceives as an imbalance. The story chronicles the rest of the Marvel Universe's attempt at stopping Thanos, and his ongoing attempt to win Death's love. Brilliant story and art... and very mature, too....
