5.0 out of 5 stars Devin is a God 7 Dec 2001
Format:Audio CD
This is an extraordinary album. From the moment I first heard that guitar kick in and the first BOOM introducing the opening track 'Truth' (heard it live? Gut-shudderingly immense), I knew this was something special.

Moments such as in the tracks "Soul Driven Cadillac" and "Life is All Dynamics" (my personal fave) are typical of an amazing sound Devin is producing; this wall of slow, crystal-madness sound stuff.... uh, I can't describe it. It's somewhere out there and it's incredible.

'Christeen' and 'Bad Devil' are great rocking tunes, 'Ants' is completely mad (what else would you expect?), and the final track is beautiful.

A fantastic record, and I listen in awe and wonder how this man does it. For sure, it won't appeal to everyone, but there's something happening here that reaches out and grabs you by your special musical-bits if you let it. Brrr!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely mad! 1 Oct 2001
Format:Audio CD
This is the period in which Devin went completely mad (although he's always been as mad as a hat), and it shows through the music. The tracks fly from one extreme to another in an almost scizophrenic way which only Devon could do. Absolutely mindblowing sonics on this album, you just simply have to buy it, like everything else Devin has done, its amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hallelujah... it's back... 10 Jan 2003
Format:Audio CD
Wonderful. There's no other word to describe Infinity, not so much a collection of disparate songs, but rather a continuous affirmation of sheer joy. This album is Devin Townsend at his most exuberant, though it's still a challenging listen. Layer upon layer of guitars, synth ornamentation and vocals (and even trumpets and trombones on one song!) combine to create a wall of sound that should be tremendously dense and oppressive, but that somehow manages to be incredibly expansive.

I'm gushing far too much. But the simple fact is that this album was a tremendous stabilising influence during a very difficult time of my life, and still is. For me, there is no experience more uplifting than loading Infinity into the CD player, cranking the volume all the way to 11, and alternately rocking out to the almost-gospel-metal weirdness of "Bad Devil", singing along to the wonderfully poppy "Christeen", screaming Hallelujah alongside "Truth", musing on the bigger picture with "Life Is All Dynamics", and finally winding down to the ethereal closer, "Unity". It's an experience not to be replicated anywhere.

Buy this album. Or else. :)
