Great Album and the Bonus Disc Enhances it Well! 28 Aug 2011
By Music 101 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Infinite is a great album by Finland's Power Metal band Stratovarius. Infinite is one of their classic albums and I think it's a good album. But it's for sure not the best. I believe that their best song, however, is on this album. Hunting High and Low is definitely their best song ever! No doubt about it! The bonus songs are also pretty good as well. Timo Tolkki wrote this single-handedly except for 2 songs on the album and 2 on the bonus disc: Hunting High and Low (and the demo version of it), Glory of the World and Why Are We Here?.

Music:

Infinite is a very good album with the classic Stratovarius sound but Hunting High and Low has the most power of any song they've written.

1. Hunting High and Low- Don't you absolutely hate it when you wanna listen to an entire album but the 1st song is soo gosh-darn catchy?! Well this may be the worst case of it (except for "I Had a Good Time" off of Boston's Corporate America Album). I love this song sooo much! I like the beginning and how it evolves into their most powerful song ever written. Great job guys!

2. Millennium- Now this is a good song, but because of the greatness of track 1, this song just seems not as good. But it is very catchy and I like it.

3. Mother Gaia- It's a pretty song but it drags on and on and it just isn't that good at the length it's at.

4. Phoenix- A very good song in my opinion. I like it a lot. My vote for one of the songs that's almost an 8th as good as track 1!

5. Glory of the World- This is the best song that's not Hunting High and Low. I love the intro and the chorus.

6. A Million Light Years Away- It's an ok song but I fail to see how this was a single rather than Phoenix or Glory of the World. Not the best.

7. Freedom- This is a good song too. Not as good as tracks 4 & 5 but it would have made a better single than A Million Light Years Away for sure!!!

8. Infinity- The epic of the album. A pretty good epic, too, but Elements, Elysium, and Destiny are better.

9. Celestial Dream- A nice little acoustic song to close the album. I like it.

Bonus Disc:

1. Why Are We Here?- An absolutely amazing song! I wish they would've substituted this one for A Million Light Years Away. The only problem is that it starts on the same chord that Glory of the World starts on.

2. It's a Mystery- A different sound for them. More rock than the power metal we are used to but it's still better than the songs that aren't as good on the album.

3. Neon Light Child- A nice sad song. I like this one.

4. Hunting High and Low (Demo)- It's actually pretty good for a demo, but the real version is much better

5. Millennium (Demo)

6. Phoenix (Live)

7. Infinity (Live)

Verdict- If you have the original album, this isn't worth it. However, If you don't have any version of Infinite, then I highly recommend this one! This is a great album and most Stratovarius albums are as well. If you are just starting, I recommend either Elysium, Visions, or Fourth Dimension. This one is good to, tho.
