Synopsis

A manual of advice for those taken to the family courts.

From the Publisher

The InFighter's Guide is the first strong, defensive book for
people in the divorce courts.

It gives robust advice on how to defend yourself. There is no other book
like it.

The InFighter's Guide is meant for men, but women in difficulty will buy
it too.

Complicated matters are explained simply, in short paragraphs and bullet
points.

The InFighter's Guide covers: finance, children, negotiation, legal aid,
appeals, avoiding costs, forward planning, tactics in court and your best
strategy - many things a solicitor would not say.

Easy to read. Easy to understand. Easy to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Men - get the information you need for the family courts, 18 Jul 2006
By BP Worrall (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Richard Marsden has produced an excellent guide for men using the family courts : it is accurate, comprehensive, and above all provides the information needed to defend your interests and maybe obtain justice. This is information which you are unlikely to obtain in consulting expensive lawyers. The book therefore repays its purchase price many, many times over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tells it how it is,, 5 Sep 2007
A really good book for those up against a hostile ex wife. I also bought FAMILY COURT HELL by Mark Harris which details all the inside court stuff in his access case (133 hearings, two jail terms for contempt). You can't read enough of these sort of books if you are up against a difficult or dishonest ex, stops you feeling like it's only you it's happening too!

5.0 out of 5 stars It is just common sense, 28 Nov 2008

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The infighters guide to divorce by Richard Marsden

It is just common sense

I am always a little bit wary of self published books as i wonder why the author could not have got it published professionally. The size atA4 is also an unusual size. He has produced an index which in my view is must

The chapters are set out clearly so you know where to go for each topic. He has also set out clearly all the documents you will need from divorce petition to notice of appeal.

He suggests that from the start you should defend the divorce and at each stage lodge an appeal or complaining as in to how you have been treated. A few years ago I would have said that was a waste of time but unfortunately the systems these days are designed to steamroller us all so you might as well take the opportunity of complaining at every stage as it can do you now harm.

As he says by opposing the petition is gives you a negotiating position. He suggests that you represented yourself but you would have fool for a client.

Lawyers unfortunately will just want to settle come what may and have no person interest in the outcome of the case apart form getting paid. Although it sounds to the layman that barristers spend their time arguing arcane points but in reality they want the matter settled as quickly as possible so they can move on to the next case.

Judges also similarly want the parties to agree rather than have a hearing and have to make a decisions. None of their decisions can be wrong if the parties have kindly agreed between themselves.

Whether you are representing yourself or using lawyers this book is a must read As a result of reading this I saw a reference to Family court Hell and I read that as well. A harrowing true story of how the system works..

A must read for anyone who thinks the courts are a fair place.
