It's quite hard to believe that 26yrs have passed since the release of Out of The Cellar, the album that propelled the San Diego rockers to rock stardom. And now the boys are back, re-focused, re-grouped,re-freshed and ready to rock. But is it any good? Well, quite simply, "Yes sir!" Ratt have delivered a humongous rockin' fat slab of attitude, melody, classic riffs and sing along choruses. The type of material Ratt used to produce in their sleep. What we have here is eleven ear pumping anthems and not a filler to be seen.
Stand out tracks include "eat me up alive", "best of me","a little too much", and "lost weekend" is so utterly brilliant, that it already stands out as a Ratt classic, rubbing shoulders with such bad boys as "round & round", "you're in love", "lay it down" and "nobody rides for free".
Individually and collectively, the band are in top form and special note must be made of the production. Big, brash, modern and lively but without any of the 80's and early 90's over use of reverb. It's especially great to hear Bobby Blotzer's drum work shine in the mix.
So is it as good as "Cellar" or "Invasion"? Well too early to say really but if not, then it's seriously close, and that's some compliment.
So if you're an old Ratt fan, now is the time to re-emerge and take up arms. If you're new to the infestation, then welcome! Let's rock!!
