About the Author

Erwin ROmmel was a highly decorated officer in World War I, and was awarded the Pour le Mérite for his exploits on the Italian front. In World War II, he further distinguished himself as the commander of the 7th Panzer Division during the 1940 invasion of France. However, it was his leadership of German and Italian forces in the North African campaign that established the legend of the Desert Fox. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

As an avid reader of Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, I was delighted to obtain a copy of his book, Infantry Attacks. Written by Rommel with illustrations by Rommel, it allows an understanding of why Rommel was so successful in WWII. If only the Allied generals had read it before their defeats in North Africa! A book for those interested in Rommel, his battles of WWI or anyone interested in infantry tactics. I wouldn't be surprised if this book makes mandatory reading for infantry officer cadets!

A brilliant insight in to the mind of a young Erwin Rommel. He cut his teeth on the front line.

This combined with *Rommel Papers* is a priceless combination and a great historic purchase.

We are aware of Rommel and his success in the second world war. This is a detailed account
of his service in the infantry covering specific attacks. It is surprising to find him
attached to the mountain infantry and at a relatively young age revealing the skills,
determination and flexibility in leading his troops for which he was so famous in the
whole of his life. It is very revealing of his character.

Wow! What an amazing exciting and thrilling book. After reading this book you will realise this man was the greatest military leader and tactician EVER. The thought processes, experiences and leadership skills of this man are extraordinary, his compassion and honour for the enemy as well as his a own troops was a rarity in the 14-18 war. If your boss at work is as useless as mine as most of the leaders in this country are, make them read this, they might learn something. You will also find out that alot of WWI was not just bogged down trench warfare but was fast paced movement. I see now why they still teach this book in military academies today. I'm not sure if he was helped to write this book but it is wonderfully written. DON'T BE PUT OFF if you are not interested in the military it is a fantastic adventure book as well. It starts with his experiences in the trenches around the Luxembourg region and moves through mountain warfare in Romania and the Italian border. Please read this, you will not regret it. It is one of those books that when you get near the end you slow up as you want to savour it as you know your next book will never satisfy you as this one does. BUY IT, BUY IT AND BUY IT.

This is Erwin Rommel's first hand accounts of skirmishes/battles throughout world war one.

This is a book that can be read by anyone from an enthusiast to military personnel.
Each chapter ends with notes on what happened and what he aims to improve on.
You can feel every moment as if you were there yourself.
A well written book that is hard to put down.
