Being waiting for this album since i totally played Writer's Refrence to death, and in all fairness it didn't disapoint! All the songs are fantastic, with the stand out ones being our revolution - such a complete rock out song, underfire has really catchy riffs, hey italy and better then sex - may have the most easily relatable lyrics ever! All in all every track is amazing but if with most albums i have to find a fault then some of the lyrics are a bit repetetive/recycled but it takes nothing away from the how awesome this album is! if you liked halifax before then without doubt buy it because its stunning, if not buy it anyway it rocks!

Absolutely Amazing 24 May 2006
By TheBoomies - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is a great album, every song is so amazing. From the fast paced rock anthem 'Our Revolution' to the incredibly deep 'Murder I Wrote', this album keeps you listening to the end. I have been anticipating this album since December and the band from Thousand Oaks delivered.

Nightmare - My favorite song from before the album was out, features great guitar riffs great catchy lyrics. 9.5/10

Our Revolution - Want a track to party to? This it. This is the first single off the CD and is fast and loud and guitarist Chris Brandt really shines here. 9/10

Under Fire - A great song, everything is balanced. 9/10

Anthem For Tonight - Amazing vocals from Mike on this one. Guitar is great as well. 9.5/10

Hey Italy - Catchy lyrics and a great song all together, more alternative then the previous four. 9/10

Snow In Hollywood - A great song, with deep lyrics and absolutely amazing guitar, featuring a more 80s rock theme. 9.5/10

Such A Terrible Trend - A slower song, featuring more inner thoughts from singer Mike Hunau. 8.5/10

Better Than Sex - My personal favorite song on the entire CD. I can truly relate to every line in this song. I love it. 10/10

Giant In The Ring - A great slower paced song, but good nontheless. 8.5/10

Promise Me Tragedy - The loudest song on the CD. Features more of a post-hardcore Halifax, no screaming though. I love it, gives the CD more of a balanced look. 9.5/10

A Tint Of Rain - Another slower song but with a great message. 9/10

I Told You So - A little louder then the previous one. 9/10

Murder I Wrote - Such a great song, fantastic way to end the album. Listen to it the whole way through and it truly completes the album. 10/10

This CD is so great, it hasn't left my player since I got it 6 days ago.

Halifax at the underground 16 July 2006
By Leeman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
I recently just saw these guys at Sokol underground (a concert hall in Omaha) and I was impressed. I had heard "of" them but not "heard" them; if that makes sense. Basically the name had been thrown around, but I neglected to associate any one song to them in my mind. After hearing them in concert though I knew that I had to have one of the cds and I picked the winner of the bunch since this one is practically the "greatest hits album". No joke, the first eight songs are dynamite!

Halifax is the next super band!! 9 July 2006
By J.R.R tolkan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I have to say that halifax is the best band to come out in a long time! when I first heard them it was from their first album a writer's referance and it was amazing makeing halifax my favorite band! but then I got this cd and that made it clear that they're amazing artists. the best songs on the cd would have to be anthem for tonight, nightmare, and our revolution. I suggest u go and buy this cd. but if u've never heard their music before get a writer's referance first because that is the true halifax!

Texas based Drive Thru Records act, Halifax have done it again with their long awaited debut album "The inevitability of a Strange World". Produced by Machine (Armor for Sleep, Lamb Of God, Boys Night Out) and Lou Giordano (Taking Back Sunday, Sunny Day Real Estate), the album is the band's full-length debut and a follow-up to the 2004 EP "A Writer's Reference". Halifax have changed from the "Sydney" sound t a melodic 80s metal with a touch of emo tendencies here. It's been quite some time since I have heard such a passionate album opener as on this album. "Nightmare" is quite possibly the most catchiest songs on the album. The riffs and the screaming "hell yeahs" on the chorus to "Our Revolution" make me think that it may as well be a Mötley Crüe tribute song. Gang chants and emo-like lyrics will make this album a favorite amongst the teens while still maintaining itself in the older crowd primarily by the wonderfully crafted guitar riffs. "Hey Italy" incorporates a violn-esque backgroud at the end of the song which is quite astonishing. No need to worry about "filler tracks" on this album either--songs like "under fire" bring the rock just as much as "Our Revolution" does. Lyrically speaking, the album is well-written and delived in just the right way. This is most apparent in the track "Snow in Hollywood". Throw on your old Motley Crue shirts, go pick up this album, and rock out to one of the albums that was chosen by Alternative Press magazine as one of the "Most Anticipated Releases of 2006".

Great pop-punk album 21 April 2007
By Brain Drain - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I bought this CD on a whim, not really knowing anything about the band. I saw the Drive-Thru record label and figured, what the heck. At first I wasn't too fond of it; especially after hearing the second song (something about a revolution). I guess that this is their first single from this album? Well, it's a terrible song. Unfortunately it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth as I listened to the other songs. But then I listened again, and I skipped #2. And I must say that the rest of the CD is very good. My favorites are "Hey Italy" and "Snow in Hollywood". The songs have catchy choruses and good riffs. Sure, it sounds like a lot of other emo/punk bands out there, but so what? I say, buy this album, you won't regret it.
