Product Description

This handbook explores all that the diverse country of Indonesia has to offer, island by island. Covering Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, Kalimantan, Maluku, Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi, it provides up-to-date practical advice. This third edition has been updated and revised and is published in a travel-proof paperback format. It includes: highlights with colour photographs; useful Indonesian words and phrases; information on all practical aspects of travelling from obtaining a visa to ferry timetables; and colour maps to help plan a visit.

From the Author

THE comprehensive guidebook to Indonesia!
Footprint's Indonesia Handbook is well over 1000 pages long, packed with all the information a visitor to this fascinating country might need. The practical information includes detailed comments on accommodation from five star hotels to backpacker's losmen, recommendations on restaurants and advice on local travel. Just about every town entry has an accompanying map. Like the other Footprint guides, the travelling text is complemented by a detailed background section to help the inquisitive visitor understand a country which was cobbled together over some 400 years, more through historical accident than design. In short, no one should travel without it! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

4.0 out of 5 stars useful for first timer, 19 Jan 2005
This review is from: Indonesia Handbook: The Travel Guide (Footprint Handbooks) (Paperback)
I bought this book for a friend to take him climbing Mt. Merapi and Mt Semeru (both in Java). This book really useful for describing route and transportation (cost slightly more expensive than in the book). I am Indonesian and basically know where to go. But this book even give me more information

3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate for a Short Trip, 9 Jan 2005

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Indonesia Handbook: The Travel Guide (Footprint Handbooks) (Paperback)
This guide only really covers the major, better-known attractions of each region in Indonesia.
The Lonely Planet or Rough Guide are much better for a more in-depth coverage of the entire country, or go for the Periplus ones for more detail on particular regions.
