Product Description

Review

The breadth of approach and accessibility of this new introductory texts makes it a strong candidate to capture the lecturers' recommended lists and the minds of their students (Journal of Personality and Individual Differences, )

Well-written, extra material in this new edition is a useful addition (Dr E J Austin, University of Edinburgh )

Cooper is to be congratulated on the objectives, contents and structure of his timely book and its associated webpages. It merits a place on the bookshelves of any academic or student to whom the topic of individual differences is professionally salient. (The Psychology of Education Review )

Product Description

Colin Cooper's Individual Differences has been a favourite among lecturers and students of differential psychology since it was published in 1997. It is unique in its comprehensive coverage of both personality theories and the methodological issues associated with personality and psychometric testing.

An informative and enjoyable trip through personnality and psychometrics. Far from having to plough through endless information to try and understand these topics, this book provides an excellent framework for a good understanding of the subject. With reference to empirical research, evaluative criticisim, and self-assessment qusetions the book provides a perfect starting point with directions to more in depth literature. All this and time for the odd joke makes this a must buy text!

Individual Differences was recommended to me by a friend so that I might better understand personality, intelligence and psychometrics. I now understand these concepts thanks to the easy, readable style of writing. As well as listing theories the author also evaluates them, referring to the emperical literature - a pleasant change.

Colin Cooper was one of my lecturers at Queen's University Belfast. He is a brilliant man (and a very nice one to boot!).

This book provides an excellent introduction to Individual Differences - it is written in an accessible style, and all assertions are backed-up by scientific research.

I warmly recommend this text to anyone seeking to further their knowledge in this fascinating area of psychology.
