**Top Pick, 4 ½ Stars -- RT Book Reviews**

“Using wit and romance with a master’s skill, Kasey Michaels aims for the heart and never misses.” -- Nora Roberts

“There is so much wit and wisdom in the pages of INDISCREET that you’ll be filled with wonder, and giggling all the while. Kasey Michaels returns with all the hallmarks that have made her a Regency romance treasure: humor, unforgettable characters and a take on the era few others possess. Sheer reading pleasure!” -- RT Book Reviews; Nominated for Best Innovative Historical Romance, 1998

A Note from Kasey:

“In 1998 I was so ready to write another Regency historical, INDISCREET fairly flew from my fingertips onto the computer screen. And I had a ball! I had been so engrossed in history and wanted a break from more serious topics, so I wrote myself a romantic farce (I always write for me, what makes me happy at the time, figuring if I like it maybe someone else will, too).

Indiscreet has, according to reviewers and readers, one of the funniest Prologues in fiction. Even I still giggle a bit when I think of it!

But there’s a serious side to this romantic farce; two people who think they know who they are, what they want ... and then get smacked in the face with the realization life doesn’t always fit into neat little boxes.

As I said, I had a grand time writing INDISCREET, and revisiting the book to prepare it for its e-book version delighted me all over again. It’s a good rainy-day-and-I-feel-blah-and-need-to-laugh book. Enjoy!”

A spirited beauty with a pet monkey and an obscene parrot, Sophie Winstead is determined to marry her way into Regency England's upper crust, with the help of her strait-laced guardian, Bramwell Seaton, a man of intense attractions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Regency Out This Year! 16 Oct 1998
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Ms Michaels does it again. She should provide kleenex with her books, I laugh so hard I cry. "INDISCREET".... Nora Roberts said it very well on the cover "Using Wit & Romance with a MASTERS Skill."
Sophie Winstead, the daughter of a ...shall we say rather indiscreet (pun intended)widow is making her come out. The rather staid Duke of Selbourne has been selected as her sponsor, The Duke, (Bramwell) just happens to be the son of Sophie's mothers last lover prior to their "Unfortunate accident". Sophie's upbringing has given her an unusual outlook on life. She knows where she is going and soon after arriving at Bramwells townhouse knows who she wants and what she wants. She immediately decides that The Duke is far too straightlaced and staid. Sophie has a wonderful time teaching him how to loosen up and laugh. Bramwell of course fights her as hard as he can, even after he realizes he is head over heels in love with Sophie. But love shall win in the end.
All of the characters in Ms Michaels "Indiscreet" play a vital part in the story, but be sure and watch for Desiree, Sophies maid, Ignatius, her parrot, Bramwells light fingered aunt Lady Gwendolyn Seaton and all the rest. Ms Michaels has written this novel in an unusual and refreshing tone of the Regency era. The very forthright manner that Sophie and Bramwell converse is beleivable, bright and witty. "Indiscreet" had me grinning on grinning on the first page of the Prologue laughing out loud by page 9. Well Done Ms Michaels!!!, definitely a keeper

I don't know when I have enjoyed a book - I have read and re-read this novel.

The premise of this book: The two main characters - Bramwell, the ninth duke of Selbourne, and Sophie Winstead (daughter of Bramwell's father's mistress), find themselves in a Guardian/Ward kind of situation due to the fact that Bramwell must be responsible for sponsoring Sophie during her first Season in London and assist in finding her a suitable husband.

Because of the outrageous manner in which Bram's father and Sophie's mother chose to live out their lives and in fact, the way they died, Bram has worked very diligently to be the total opposite of his father and live a much more staid, discreet life with his will and emotions always in check.

My favorite parts of the book are when Sophie, who has been trained to "dazzle" or "make people happy" all her life begins to dazzle all the people in Bramwell's world. Of course Bramwell doesn't like it because he knows that it is a form of manipulation. Because Sophie truly cares for all the people she is trying to make happy, you can't help but hope that she is successful.

Sophie is adorable and absolutely stunning. Bramwell doesn't want to be dazzled and fights it pretty hard. Plus he's already betrothed to the lovely, perfect, albeit somewhat standoffish Isadora, who perfectly suits his very "correct" temperament.

Enter Sophie Winstead into his calm world and oh yes, Baby, you can see his world begin to shatter. If you decide to purchase this book, I hope you are as "dazzled" as I was.

I admit to being very fond of Kasey Michaels' books. Her characters are generally really likeable and this was no exception.I even put up with the parrot and the slightly unbelievable monkey.

5.0 out of 5 stars fab utterly fab 14 Feb 2014

I love her books
This book actually reminds me of a book by georgette Heyer ' the grand sophy'the heroines similar as in they are quick of wit and want happiness for all
the story is much the same as well
However the characters of the heroines are absolutely different
This book relies on cajolery and feminine trickery while that one on honour and boldness
It was like having my favourite book and getting a different favourite out of it
A Lovely Surprise
Read it !
It's good
