I would strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject, either the general reader or the specialist textile worker. I work with indigo dye almost exclusively, and it has become my constant reference book within a very short time. A meaty, fascinating read, packed from cover to cover with invaluable information.

Indigo is exactly what it says it is...a book that explores indigo in as many variations as it is used by dyers worldwide. It is an invaluable reference, historical and cultural resource in which substantial text is illustrated with great photography.

For anyone interested in indigo, this is definitely a best buy from Amazon.com.

Excellent resource 30 Sep 2011

This book has been my go-to resource in researching indigo dye and indigo-dyed textiles, Japanese or otherwise. I had previously been unaware of the worldwide market for indigo throughout the last several centuries, but this book certainly broadened my awareness. As a textile writer and researcher, I cannot imagine working without this book handy. Color images, historical engravings, cultural background, and a general wealth of information make it worth the investment.
