Book Description

1 Sep 2009
The Montreal-based nonprofit Yellow Bird Project has worked with an amazing range of indie rock musicians over the years to create unique T-shirt designs, benefitting an array of charities. This all-new project - the first ever indie rock coloring book - enlists artist Andy J. Miller to create witty, hand-illustrated activity pages in a fitting tribute to the DIY spirit of the bands. Including mazes, connect the dots, and coloring pages for Bloc Party, the Shins, Stars, Broken Social Scene, Devendra Banhart, Rilo Kiley, the New Pornographers, the National, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and twenty more musicians, and all royalties going to charity, the "Indie Rock Coloring Book" is sure to keep music fans out of trouble for hours and warm even the coolest of hipster hearts.

I bought this coloring book because I expected it to contain drawings BY all the bands and artists mentioned in the description - however, it contains pictures INSPIRED BY the said artists.

Andy J. Miller's illustrations are beautiful and witty and I can see adults and kids alike enjoying coloring his creations.
Of course you could just pop this on your shelf as a counter cultural curio.

4.0 out of 5 stars a cool colouring book 31 Aug 2010

Indie Rock Coloring Book
Cool and classy, it's almost a parody of a kid's colouring book, yet grown-ups can also be made aware of the medative value of such things, not to mention the value of abstact art and the possible aesthetic beauty of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful little indie treat! 18 Nov 2010
By Keira
Format:Paperback
Love this colouring book... is a perfect present for my indie chums. Great bands including MGMT, Broken Social Scene, The Shins... have come together to build a heart-breakingly sweet collection of dot to dots, mazes, and colouring images, all for a good cause.

I'd recommend this to anyone who has a soft spot for beautiful activity books or fans of good music (especially the canadian music scene).
